My world. Where is this thing?

This is a square "Beacon"

Beacon is a special functional square, which can emit a light beam into the sky and exert a temporary positive effect on players around.

The activation of beacon beam requires the beacon to be placed at the top of the pyramid with diamond block, gold block, emerald block or iron block (or any combination of these four blocks); The effect gain of the beacon needs to consume a gold ingot, iron ingot, emerald or diamond to activate. The maximum effective height of the pyramid is 4 floors, including 164 mineral cubes. The smallest effective pyramid only needs one floor, including nine mineral cubes.

Beacon provides two special functions:

A bright landmark light beam that can be seen from a long distance. The light beam will only be emitted when the beacon is placed on a base of at least 3x3.

gain effect, the beacon gives the player a positive state effect within a certain radius (the beam must already exist).

beacons also have the function of ordinary light sources. The brightness of beacon is higher than that of torch, and it has the same brightness and underwater luminous ability as fluorite block and pumpkin lantern. The function of beacon as a common light source does not need a pyramid base.

Because the raw materials for beacon synthesis are very rare, fluorite blocks and pumpkin lanterns are more reasonable as light sources in the survival mode, but in the creation mode, beacons can be used as a decorative light source substitute. Although the bottom of the beacon box is dark black (the obsidian base of the beacon), it still emits the same amount of light as other surfaces.

the activation of beacon beam requires the beacon to be placed at the top of the pyramid with diamond block, gold block, emerald block or iron block (or any combination of these four blocks). At the same time, there must be no obstacles above the beacon, and it must be directly exposed to the sky (1.8 At first, the light can now pass through all blocks that do not completely block the light: ice bricks, water and leaves, and the bedrock above the beacon will be ignored). Using different kinds of squares to form a pyramid will not make the beacon effect different, so it is most reasonable to use the cheapest material as the pyramid structure in the survival mode. Moreover, different kinds of box mashups will not affect the effect of beacons.

the smallest pyramid that can activate the beacon beam is a 3×3 pedestal made of mineral cubes (see below for other pyramids), and the beacon cube should be placed right above the center of the pedestal. After being placed correctly, wait for a period of time, and the beacon box will project a blue and white light, pointing directly at the sky; However, at present, this beam is only used for decoration.

after 1.8 snapshot 14w32a, placing stained glass above the beacon can change the color of the beacon beam. At the same time, some colors can be synthesized. For example, if a yellow glass is placed on the red glass above the beacon, the beacon beam will turn orange.

once the beacon emits a light beam, the player can make the beacon release a positive gain (similar to the state effect provided by the potion) to the players within a certain distance by consuming one of iron ingots, gold ingots, emeralds or diamonds. This operation is realized through the control interface of the beacon. The control interface can be opened by right-clicking the beacon.

In the control interface, players can put items in the empty slots provided by the interface, and then click the options that appear to select a main effect. Beacons with four pyramids will provide an additional auxiliary effect option, which can provide a second persistent state bonus. When the "Finish" button (green check mark) is pressed, the placed items will be consumed, and the beacon will be activated and begin to provide the gain effect. To change the gain effect of the beacon, the beacon needs to consume another item.

The higher the pyramid, the more effect options the beacon can provide and the wider its scope of application. At present, the pyramids have four effective heights:

level 1 pyramid, which requires: 9 mineral cubes+1 beacon (3×3 pedestal)

level 2 pyramid, which requires: 34 mineral cubes+1 beacon (5×5 pedestal, 3×3 top floor)

level 3 pyramid, which requires: 83 mineral cubes+1 beacon (7×7 pedestal). Need: 164 mineral cube+1 beacon (9×9 base, 7×7 second floor, 5×5 third floor, 3×3 top floor)

If the pyramid is damaged and the beacon fails, the beacon will keep its setting state of gain effect, and it will be restored once it is reactivated, so there is no need to consume articles again. According to this, a pyramid with a "switch" can be built by using the piston, and the switch function of the beacon can be realized by controlling the viscous piston to remove and reset a pyramid block.

multiple beacons

multiple beacons can reuse the mineral cube under them, so they can be activated while saving space and materials by expanding the original pyramid, without building an independent pyramid for each beacon.

For example, quadruple beacons can be arranged next to each other in a 2×2 array, and then a composite pyramid of 1×1, 8×8, 6×6 and 4×4 can be built under it, so only 216 mineral cubes are needed.

however, in 1.7.1 (other versions are unknown), beaconies in a row can only enjoy the effect of the first layer.

symmetry is not mandatory for the composite pyramid, as shown in the figure on the right, with a six-fold beacon arranged in 2×3 (enough, because there are only six gain effects to choose from at present). This six-fold beacon needs ***244 mineral cubes, and the bottom layer is 1×11.

The pyramid looks like Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas. The beam from the top of Luxor Hotel can be seen from 25 miles away.

the maximum beam length of the beacon is 255. The beam length is related to the effective number of pyramid layers.

the beam emitted by the beacon will not disappear until the block is unloaded.

The pyramid bases of adjacent beacons can * * * share squares, so that you can effectively create multiple beams or superimpose multiple effects.

if you want to achieve all the effects by this method, you need at least 244 ore blocks. If the pyramids are separated, the number is 984. It can be seen that pyramid stacking can save 75% of consumables.

like other squares with brightness higher than 12, the beacon light can also melt the ice.

lapis lazuli, red stone and coal blocks cannot be used as consumable materials.

the beacon in p>12w38a looks like a diamond block in the center, but it is actually synthesized with the lower bound star.
