Lubumbashi, the most important industrial and mining city in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the second largest city and the capital of Katanga Province. Formerly known as Elizabethville, it is now named after a local river. Located on the plateau at the southeast end of the border of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the south is about 20 kilometers away from the border of Zambia. There are abundant nonferrous and rare metal deposits nearby.

In 1908, Belgian colonists set up a factory to smelt copper, and in 19 10, a copper mine settlement was built. Established in 1942. After World War II, the mining industry expanded on a large scale, the city developed rapidly, and the restaurant and hotel industry developed. There are consulates in Belgium, South Africa, Angola, Italy, Zambia and other countries. The largest mining center in China has two famous copper SICOMINES, Kipsie and Rouach, which are rich in metals such as copper, zinc, lead, cadmium, germanium, actinides and tantalum, and are equipped with large metallurgical enterprises, such as the newly established Hua Gang Mining Company. The city is also called the copper capital of Congo. In addition, there are cement, textile, food, vehicle and mechanical repair industries and hydropower stations. The transportation hub in southern Congo (DRC). The railway runs through the mainland, Zambia, Angola and other countries, but now the railway has been unable to operate normally. The road leads north to all parts of the country. There are Katanga Cultural Center, French Cultural Center, Museum, Public Zoo, Academy of Fine Arts, Lubumbashi University, Teachers College and various specialized schools. There are roads leading to Kasai Lake Mweru, Kalemie Lake Tanganyika, northeastern Congo and eastern Africa, but the current road conditions are not good. There is a railway leading to Benguela Port in Angola along the Atlantic coast, but it has been abandoned. The coast of the Indian Ocean can be reached by the Tanzania-Zambia Railway. Luano International Airport is located at 0/7km northeast of the urban area and built at 1958. During Katanga province's attempt to secede from the Republic of Congo (1960 ~ 1963), Lubumbashi gathered many dissidents.

Congo (DRC) has relatively developed air transport, and Lubumbashi is its important airport.

There is no direct flight between Congo (DRC) and China. The routes operated by Ethiopian Airlines (every Monday, Wednesday and Friday) have established communication links between Lubumbashi and big cities in China. After Egypt Air signed a contract with Beijing Fan Yuan International Transportation Service Co., Ltd. to become a freight forwarding company, the freight volume between China and Ganggang increased day by day. The air transport industry plays an extremely important role in the domestic transport system of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Because there is no road, railway and waterway connection between provincial capitals in China, the land is not smooth, and the plane is the only means of transportation. Due to the lack of maintenance and updating, most aviation infrastructure and aircraft are seriously aging. The service quality, punctuality and safety of domestic flights are poor, and air crashes occur frequently. Part of its international flights are operated by foreign airlines, and its safety is relatively guaranteed.

The economic crisis since 2008 has had a great impact on this city. Many mining enterprises are underemployed and the local unemployment rate remains high, which adds anxiety to the already unstable local situation. At present, there are about 1500 Chinese in the city, most of whom are mining operators, and there is a Chinese restaurant. China Railway, China Hydropower, China Nonferrous Metals and other central enterprises have been stationed one after another to carry out mining cooperation with the country.
