Summer vacation travel notes

1. Destination Overview

Kulun Banner is located in the transitional area from the northern Yanshan Mountains to the Horqin Sandy Land. The Yanshan Mountains extend from the southwest of Banner, and connect with the vast Horqin Sandy Land in the middle, forming a landform of continuous shallow mountains in the south, undulating hills in the middle, and continuous sand dunes in the north.

Kulun is Mongolian and means courtyard. As early as the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, humans were fighting and nomadic in the Kulun Banner. Around 1632, eminent Tibetan monks preached here and designated a territory called Manjusili Kulen.

Kulun Banner is mainly pastoral, with a combination of agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry. The livestock are mainly cattle, horses, sheep and pigs. Food crops include millet, buckwheat, corn, sorghum, soybeans, rice, wheat, potatoes, etc. Economic crops include sesame, sunflower seeds, castor seeds, cotton, tobacco leaves, etc. With an annual output of more than 15 million jins, Kulun buckwheat is a popular commodity in domestic and foreign markets.

4. Travel Notes

The first day in Kulun Banner

After 8 hours of driving, we finally arrived at Kulun Banner. Perhaps out of enthusiasm, we welcomed Ours was a record high temperature of 38 degrees. The receptionist also said that it was so hot because she was welcoming distinguished guests from Beijing. Haha, she just attributed the high temperature to us!

Although we had already eaten a lot of snacks on the way, the host was very hospitable and took us to the restaurant. Large pieces of soy sauce bones, unique shredded milk tofu, local organic cauliflower, special glutinous rice... …Don’t talk about eating, you’ll be full just by looking at it.

Go to the hotel for a short rest and prepare to visit the three major temples when the temperature cools down.

The three major temples in Kulun are Xingyuan Temple, Xiangjiao Temple and Fuyuan Temple. Among them, Xingyuan Temple was first built in 1649 (the sixth year of Shunzhi) and was later repaired and expanded during the Kangxi and Guangxu years. It is the earliest and largest temple among the three major temples in Kulun. It is a place for chanting sutras, worshiping Buddha and carrying out ritual activities. It is also the main temple of the Silkulun Lama Banner.

Silatu: It means chairman and leader in Mongolian. Kulun: It means military camp in Mongolian. This is the small Kulun, and there is also a big Kulun in Ulanqab.

Xiangxiao Temple was built in 1670 (the ninth year of Kangxi). It is commonly known as "Shangcang", which means residence. It is the residence and office of the Sakda Lama of Siltuku Lunza, and is also the residence of Siltuku. The center of ethical, political and religious power.

Fuyuan Temple was built in 1742 (the seventh year of Qianlong reign) by Ngawang Jimuyan Hutuktu, the twelfth Lama Zhasak of Siltukurun. At that time, white pagodas and temples were built. Each one has the meaning of subduing the evil spirits who are secretly causing trouble. It is customarily called Xiacang.

After returning from the Three Great Temples, the hospitable friends from Inner Mongolia arranged a sumptuous dinner. After the meal, the sun had basically set, and the evening breeze blew. I felt refreshed and no longer felt the heat at all. . The next stop, Feng Shui Mountain, is another place worth looking forward to!

Fengshui Mountain, as its name suggests, has wind, water and mountains. In fact, this is also the case. When driving to the top of the mountain, the evening wind blows and I feel cool. The only remaining ray of sunset in the distance is nostalgic for the daytime. The remaining warmth slowly disappears into the sky!

Going down the mountain road, a lake appears in front of you. If you look closely, it is a heart shape. This explains why there are so many young lovers. The rockery on the opposite side of the lake is overlapping and well-proportioned, and it looks more dangerous under the light.
