6. Lujiang Bridge

Introduction

Lujiang Bridge is located in Liling It is the largest civilian bridge and one of the few large stone arch bridges in the country built by the public at the county level before 1949. The Lujiang Bridge has a history of more than 800 years since it was built. It has been an important transportation link since ancient times. According to the "Liling County Chronicle": Lujiang Bridge cannot be built for a day, nor is it related to one state or one state. Business travelers coming and going on the Jiang-Chu thoroughfare all want to cross here. Nowadays, the Lujiang Bridge still serves as the throat of Liling City's north-south traffic due to its unique geographical location. Liling was historically the strategic point of Wu and Chu, connecting the north and the south. Before the Southern Song Dynasty, traffic was usually blocked by the Lu River. During the Sixty-Seventh Year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1136-1137), Zhao Shanjun, the pacification envoy from Hunan, offered money to stop crossing the Lu River, indicating that there was no bridge at that time. On the 30th day of the first lunar month in the ninth year of Qiandao (1143), the poet Fan Chengda (later served as a counselor for political affairs) went to Liling via Pingxiang and wrote the five verses of "Inscription on Liling Station", which includes: "In the county near the Lushui Bridge, the willows in front of the gate have turned yellow. There are few people. The mountains and trees are long-lived, the soil is thin and the water springs are fragrant." In the book "Li Luan Lu", it is said: "New bridges are built every year." The name of the bridge is "Lushui", which shows that the bridge was built in the early and middle stages of the main road. In the next 800 years, it was destroyed 14 times by water, 5 times by fire, and 4 times by soldiers; it was repaired 2 times in the Song Dynasty, once in the Yuan Dynasty, 7 times in the Ming Dynasty, 13 times in the Qing Dynasty, and once in the Republic of China. As an ancient bridge, Lujiang Bridge has three major features: first, the bridge has a large span and is currently the best-preserved stone arch bridge with the largest span in Hunan Province; second, there are well-preserved bridge monuments inscribed by celebrities; Thirdly, there are detailed written historical materials. There are eleven kinds of "Lujiang Bridge Chronicles" from the Ming Dynasty to the Republic of China. Nowadays, Lujiang Bridge has become the cultural landscape of Porcelain City with its simple and majestic style. In 1996, the Hunan Provincial People's Government announced it as a provincial cultural relic protection unit.

Lujiang Academy , located in Liling City, Zhuzhou, Hunan, was built in the second year of Chunxi of the Song Dynasty (1175). Among them, the longest running school and the most influential one is Lujiang Academy in Liling City. Lujiang Academy is surrounded by mountains on three sides and faces the Lu River, covering an area of ??nearly 7,000 square meters. Lujiang Academy moved from the foot of Qingyun Mountain on Dongzheng Street to Xishan in the early years. It was a school palace during the Song and Ming dynasties. It was officially named Lujiang Academy in the 18th year of Qianlong’s reign in the Qing Dynasty (1753). Li Lisan, Cheng Qian, Chen Mingren, Zuo Quan, etc. all studied here. The original site of Lujiang Academy was in Qingyun Mountain, Liling City. In 1167 and in the third year of Qingyuan of Ningzong in the Southern Song Dynasty (1197), Zhu Xi, a master of Neo-Confucianism, stepped into the gate of Lujiang Academy twice. In the first year of Ming Zhengde (1506), Wang Shouren, an acting scholar of the Ming Dynasty, was demoted to Longchang Yicheng in Guizhou for his remarks. He was passing through Hunan and came to Lujiang Academy because of its reputation. He gave lectures while browsing and stayed for many days. As a result, Lujiang Academy became famous. .
