How to raise Phalaenopsis and how to raise Phalaenopsis for flower arrangement

1. Land

Because Phalaenopsis is an epiphytic orchid, its roots do not need to go deep into the soil, so it does not need fertile soil. Phalaenopsis, on the other hand, has high requirements on the substrate, which requires air permeability, corrosion resistance, slight acidity and water permeability. Therefore, moss, aquatic plants, fern roots, bark, charcoal and ceramsite can all be used for the cultivation of Phalaenopsis. If the soil is cultivated, some soft soil is needed, and the drainage performance is better.

water

Phalaenopsis needs a lot of water, so it needs to contain a lot of water in the matrix continuously. Phalaenopsis grows in summer and needs more watering once a day, at 9 am and around 5 pm. In spring and autumn, it can be watered moderately and less, and it can be watered once every day around 5 pm. Winter is the dormant period of Phalaenopsis, so it can be watered once every other week, and each watering can be around 10 in the morning. If the cooling temperature is extremely low, you can keep it dry without watering, and then water it after the temperature rises. Although Phalaenopsis needs a lot of water, it can't be watered often, too often will soak the roots of Phalaenopsis.

3. Temperature

Phalaenopsis is native to tropical rain forest, so a little higher temperature is more suitable for its growth. The daytime temperature should be controlled between 25-28℃ and the nighttime temperature should be controlled between 18-20℃. In summer, the temperature should not exceed 33℃. If the temperature is too high, Phalaenopsis will be semi-dormant. The lowest temperature in winter should not be lower than 15℃. When the temperature is lower than 15℃, Phalaenopsis will stop growing and its roots will stop absorbing nutrients. If the indoor temperature is too low in winter, Phalaenopsis should be placed in a sunny place during the day to reduce the number of watering. Orchids can be bagged at night. In addition, be careful not to let the radiator get too close to the flowers.

lamplight

Phalaenopsis is a shade-loving plant, so the light should be suitable. Therefore, Phalaenopsis should be placed in a place with astigmatism to avoid too strong light. However, Phalaenopsis needs plenty of sunshine when it blooms. Proper sunshine can make Phalaenopsis bloom and make the flowers more beautiful and lasting, but direct glare should also be avoided.

Although Phalaenopsis is a tropical plant, it will thrive as long as it is carefully cared for. When breeding, we must pay attention to its water demand and suitable temperature, so as to cultivate a more beautiful butterfly orchid.
