The school was founded in 1958, formerly known as Cangxian Medical College. In 1963, it was transformed into Cangzhou Health School in Hebei Province. In 1994, it was named as a national key health school. In May 2004, it was upgraded to Cangzhou Medical College with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
