Introduction to Aiqun Building

Aiqun Building was completed and opened in 1937. It is located at No. 113 Yanjiang West Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou. It is a three-star hotel under the Guangzhou Municipal Tourism Bureau. Aiqun Building maintained its status as the "tallest building in Guangzhou" for a full 30 years from 1937 to 1967. Because it was invested and built by Hong Kong Ai Kwan Life Insurance Co., Ltd., it was renamed Ai Kwan Building in 1952. In 1966, an 18-story new building with a height of 67.7 meters was built on the east side and renamed the People's Building. A revolving restaurant was added in 1984, and the original name was restored after 1988. It once topped the list of buildings in Guangzhou and was hailed by the press at the time as "opening a new era of high-rise buildings in Guangzhou". It was famous for its latest, complete and luxurious equipment. The whole building has 300 guest rooms. The double rooms are equipped with telephones, bathrooms, and elevators. There are fans in summer and heating in winter. There are also Chinese and Western restaurants and bars. Aiqun Hotel was the leader in the hotel industry at that time and had a great influence at home and abroad. It was known as the "Crown of South China".
