Cycling tour of Rotness Island

? The trip to Perth is one of my most unforgettable trips in ten years. Especially the cycling trip around Rottnest Island, let me regain my cycling skills and happy childhood memories.

? Rotness Island is 0/8km away from the coast of Western Australia/kloc-. It takes about an hour and a half by sea to reach Thomson Bay Pier on Rotnice Island by taking the ferry SeaLink from Barracks Street Pier near Perth Bay. I remember that the ferry at the pier runs every two hours. If you are not going to stay on the island, you must catch the ferry at the earliest eight o'clock. Fortunately, our hotel has a shuttle bus service to the ferry terminal.

With an area of 19 square kilometers, Rotnis Island is the closest island in the Indian Ocean to the west of Perth, the capital of Western Australia. This island is a nature reserve with unique natural seascape, which is a holiday resort in Western Australia. There are countless beaches, beautiful bays, many coral reefs and shipwrecks on the island, attracting many swimmers to explore and surf. Strickland Bay is a famous surfing resort. On land, you will meet the cutest mini marsupial, the world-famous short-tailed dwarf kangaroo Quokka, which is only found in Western Australia, and there are many unique animal and plant species.

? The short-tailed kangaroo (Quokka) can be said to be the cutest and most photogenic animal in the world. It looks so happy! They can't be found anywhere on the earth except in a small territory on the mainland. These small animals are related to wallabies and exist in large numbers on the island. They are not afraid of humans, so they often come directly to tourists. Remember, it is illegal to touch or feed the kangaroo, so please keep your distance and take the best photos with the selfie stick. Rotnis Island is also home to Portoru in Gilbert, which is one of the most endangered mammals in the world. This animal was introduced to the island to help restore this species.

? In Thomson Bay, golf has more forms of family fun, and renting bicycles is also very convenient. Those tourists who don't like adventure sports can also find their own fun in shopping stores and elegant cafes.

? There are also many historical and cultural relics in Rottnest Island, which vividly show the heritage of the ocean, criminals, colonization and World War II. Many buildings commissioned by the Governor of Perth in the19th century are still the favorite of holidaymakers today, including the restored Rottnest Hotel and seaside villa. For camping and backpackers, the old military camp is also a good choice to save money.

? Since there are no cars on the road, cycling is the best way to travel, and bicycles can be rented at ferry terminals and islands. Visitors can also get on and off the Bayseeker bus, which runs regularly on the island and get off at some more hidden beaches and surf resorts. Lao Zhan and I chose a half-day bicycle tour around the island. Then take a bus to the colder southwest to see humpback whales.

? Rottnest Island is an excellent place to watch humpback whales and southern right whales migrate along the coast of Western Australia every year. In April, about 35,000 whales swam northward from the Antarctic to the feeding and breeding grounds in the Indian Ocean. From late August to165438+1October, they returned with their newborn cubs, stayed in the protected waters of Rottnest Island for a long time, and then flew south again. To get the best chance to watch whales, you can take the Rottnest express ferry and take part in a two-hour seasonal whale watching cruise. On land, visitors can see them from the boardwalk in the west, or they can arrive by bike or by island adventure bus.

? The terminal of Bayseeker bus is at Flaaming Point, which is the real end of the world. The scenery looks barren, even in hot summer, you will feel chilly. Visitors can climb a cliff along the simple wooden plank road and overlook the vast South Indian Ocean. It is said that the Indian Ocean is the deepest ocean in the world. The vast dark blue sea makes people feel depressed. I suddenly remembered the MH370 passenger plane that was said to have disappeared in the Indian Ocean a few years ago. It may have been buried deep under the sea.
