What is Shangri-La? Which country is Shangri-La in?

The word Shangri-La means the sun and moon in the heart, and its English pronunciation comes from Zhongdian Tibetan in the ten-language group of Kangnan Dialect South Road. The word "Shangri-La" was recorded in Tibetan literature more than 1000 years ago. The Chinese phonetic alphabet is transliterated as "xamgyinyilha", which means "the sun and moon in my heart". The meaning of the word Shangri-La is consistent with the Tibetan place name "Niwangzong" in Zhongdian ancient city. Later, the word "Shangri-La" was introduced and quoted in the novel "The Lost Horizon" and became a unique place name.

James hilton (1900- 1954), a famous British American writer, wrote the novel Lost Horizon in 1933. This book describes a paradise in Tibetan areas of China.

The book describes such a story. About 60 years ago, several British people came to a strange place because of an accident. Obviously, this is a Tibetan area, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, and there is a gold mine at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. In this seemingly isolated place, they received an excellent reception. Here, time seems to have lost its meaning, and they feel that they are in the mysterious core of oriental culture. With the deepening of understanding, they know that time really loses its meaning here. The life expectancy of people here is amazing. Many religions coexist here. In the Lama Temple, they met the local spiritual leader, a living Buddha. Under the influence of the living Buddha, some of them were deeply impressed by the oriental culture. They feel that the world shows them a surprising and awe-inspiring side. In the canyon, people live happily and quietly enjoy the rewards of sunshine and snow-capped mountains. However, they are dismissive of the gold in the canyon. The Lama Temple dominates the whole valley and forms Shangri-La society. Shangri-La is a place where Tibetans live in compact communities. Their beliefs and customs are different, including Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, but they are United, friendly, harmonious and happy. In all areas of Shangri-La, the relationship between various sects, nationalities, people and nature is governed by the golden mean. People think that there are three States of human behavior: excessive, insufficient and moderate. Excessive and insufficient are evil, and only moderation is the most perfect. Shangri-La is a place where many nationalities, religions, cultures, climates and geographies coexist.

Since then, the word has become a symbol of eternity, peace and tranquility. The authoritative Dictionary of British Writers at that time claimed that one of the achievements of this book was to create the word "Xanadu" for English vocabulary. Hollywood film company bought the copyright and put Lost Horizon on the screen, which immediately swept the world, and the word "Shangri-La" was a household name. The theme song of the movie "This Beautiful Shangri-La" soon spread all over the world. Shangri-La, a symbol of "Xanadu", has become an ideal place for people to pursue. Later, the word Shangri-La was bought out by the Kwok family, a Hong Kong entrepreneur, and became a hotel firm, which became popular all over the world and became one of the highest symbols of global hotel brands, confirming the great significance of Lost Horizon in humanities. The lost horizon has become the peach blossom source of westerners. The great significance of Lost Horizon lies in that it has implanted the artistic conception of paradise on earth into western cultural values. Since then, this imaginary paradise on earth has become synonymous with Eden, Xanadu and Utopia.

The exact location of Shangri-La has always been a mystery to the world. James hilton created an ideal world for readers and left an unsolved mystery for people. No one knows where this place is on the earth, except that this place is called "Shangri-La" by Tibetans. Where is Shangri-La?

When mankind is about to leave the 20th century, China Diqing unveiled the mystery of this world. 1996, the people's government of Yunnan Province organized a research group to study Shangri-La for one year, and demonstrated it from seven aspects, and reached the conclusion that Shangri-La is located in Diqing, Yunnan Province. On September 1997, a press conference was held in Diqing to announce this conclusion to the whole world, which aroused domestic attention to Diqing.

Linguistically, Shangri-La is Tibetan, which means "the sun and moon in my heart". English pronunciation originated from Zhongdian Tibetan. Secondly, in the past century, in addition to Tibetan Buddhism, Dongba, Confucianism, Taoism, Bonism, Catholicism, Christianity and Islam have coexisted in Shangri-La. In addition, only Shangri-La will have such elegant folk customs. Our people in Shangri-La have inherited the fine legend of harmony between man and nature in Tibetan culture, abandoned the old concept of rejecting modern scientific and technological achievements, and become one of the richest Tibetan areas in China. Diqing abandoned poverty and backwardness, and inherited and carried forward the custom of brothers living in harmony. Thus it is proved that Hilton created the novel Lost Horizon with Diqing as the background, and only Diqing can be called Shangri-La.
