The origin and history of Huang surname
1, from Won surname:
The distant ancestors can be traced back to Boyi during the reign of Shun Di. Boyi is Shao Hao's fifth grandson, and his grandmother is the granddaughter of Emperor Zhuan Xu. Boyi was awarded the surname of Won by Shun Di for his meritorious service in water control.
The distant ancestors can be traced back to Shao Hao, the golden stone of the Five Emperors era. Tai Qian, a descendant of Jintian, Shao Hao, the head of the water official, was sealed in Fenchuan when he was in Zhuan Xu. During the Spring and Autumn Period, Taiqian's descendants established Shen, Yi, Qi and Huang, which were later destroyed by the State of Jin. Among them, the descendants of Huang Guogong took the country as their surname.
2. From an official standpoint:
From Huanglongsi, an official subordinate of ancient Fuxi. Huanglongsi, also known as Huanglong, Huangshi, Huangzhongguan and Longshi, etc. , is the official name of Fuxi, and it is a middle official. Some descendants of the Huanglong branch took Zuguan as their surname, called Huanglong, and later referred to as Huang and Long.
Huang's migration and communication;
In ancient times, the area south of Yanshan was one of the birthplaces of Huang surname. Later, Dalian moved to Huangchuan and established Huangguo. In 648 BC, after Huangchuan was destroyed by Chu, a few people surnamed Huang fled to central Henan, while a large number moved to the hinterland of Chu and settled in Hubei and other places.
From the Warring States Period to the Qin and Han Dynasties, the surname Huang has been widely spread to Hubei, and gradually formed eight Huang counties, such as Jiangling and Jiangxia, and developed to the south of the Yangtze River on this basis, "floating in the south of the Yangtze River and leaning on Yu Haibin". Huang's footprint reaches Shaanxi and Sichuan in the west, the East China Sea in the east and Hunan and Jiangxi in the south. At the end of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Lin, Huang, Chen and Zheng of the Central Plains took the lead in entering Fujian.
During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the Huang clan split, and there was a new movement to develop southward. One migrated from Jiangxia to the southeast, crossed Jiangxi into Zhejiang, and formed the Huang Jinhua family in Jinhua area; Jinhua has a branch of the Huang family. In the Five Dynasties, Huang Shan moved to Xiushui, Jiangxi, and formed the Huang family in xiushui county. In the Northern Song Dynasty, the Huang family became a famous writer and filial son Huang Tingjian.
The other branch first moved from Jiangxia to Gushi, Henan, and then went south through Anhui and Jiangxi to Shaowu, Fujian, forming the Shaowu Huang family. Some of them entered Vietnam and became local surnames. Huang entered Taiwan Province Province in the late Ming Dynasty.
Because Huang's main force was far away from the north in the Qin and Han Dynasties, he suffered less damage in several wars in northern China. Huang surname developed steadily and rapidly in southern China, especially during the Song, Yuan and Ming Dynasties, and flourished in Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian and Guangdong provinces, eventually forming a typical southern surname today.
