Mysterious words were found in Osaka, Japan. Why are 4 of them embarrassing Japanese netizens?
Unfortunately, an earthquake occurred in Osaka, Japan. In addition to the earthquake situation attracting social attention, a Twitter picture posted by a Japanese netizen also aroused heated discussion among the Chinese.
This picture was taken by a Japanese netizen of a damaged wall, with several lines of mysterious text-like symbols appearing on it.
As soon as the picture came out, netizens began to conduct research and identification. Some netizens thought it was a Taoist text to ward off evil spirits, others thought it was a curse, and some even said it might be a supernatural phenomenon.
Later, someone finally saw it and turned the photo over to see a few lines of ancient Chinese characters.
After repeated identification, this line of Chinese characters is: "filial piety and loyalty are good virtues, thieves and hiding traitors are evil virtues."
This line of text comes from the ancient Chinese book "Spring and Autumn Zuo Shi" "Zuo Zhuan", also known as "Zuo Zhuan".
This sentence was said by Ji Wenzi, a doctor in the state of Lu. At that time, the prince of the state of Ju, a subsidiary of the state of Lu, killed his father and gave his father's treasure to Lu Gong. Lu Gong accepted it and returned it. When they wanted to grant him a fief, Ji Wenzi firmly opposed it and ordered people to drive him away. Duke Lu was puzzled, so Ji Wenzi said: "Filial piety and loyalty are good virtues, thieves and hiding traitors are bad virtues." This means Ju. The prince is unfaithful and unfilial. Hiding him in the State of Lu would be a great evil, so he must be driven away.
In fact, it is a Chinese tradition to dig out ancient books from the walls.
When the First Emperor of Qin burned books and harassed Confucian scholars, Confucius’ ninth-generation grandson Kong Yu secretly hid Confucian classics such as The Analects of Confucius, Shangshu, Spring and Autumn, The Book of Filial Piety, and the Book of Rites in the Confucius Residence in Qufu. In the walls of the house, during the Han Dynasty, someone demolished the house and built a house, and these books were found in the walls.
Later, these Confucianisms spread all over the world, and also spread across the sea and east to Japan.
In 285 AD, a Baekje man named Wang Ren from the Korean Peninsula visited Japan and took ten volumes of The Analects with him. The Japanese were amazed when he told him the main ideas in the book. Japanese nobles and monks first set off an upsurge in studying "The Analects of Confucius" and sent a large number of people to China to purchase Confucian classics, including "Zuo Zhuan". These are recorded in the ancient Japanese history books "Kojiki" and "Nihon Shoki", and these history books are also written in Chinese characters.
Japanese people like "Zuo Zhuan" mainly because "Zuo Zhuan" contains the spirit of loyalty and sincerity of scholar-bureaucrats. Especially the historical background of "Zuo Zhuan" is that small countries are standing together and conquering each other. The Warring States Period is very similar to the intricate relationship between the lord, retainers, and warriors in the Confucian classics. It is easier for Japanese people to perceive the spirit of "Zuo Zhuan".
In fact, the Japanese should feel ashamed after reading this sentence from "Zuo Zhuan" on the wall.
After all, the ancient Japanese achieved advanced culture by studying Confucian classics, and there are four words in this sentence: "thieves and traitors". From the Sino-Japanese War of 1894 to 1945, Japan continued to be ungrateful. He invaded China with evil intentions and stole many Chinese cultural relics.
“Filial piety and loyalty are good virtues, while thieves and hiding adultery are bad virtues.” I hope Japan will learn from this.
