How to lay a carpet! Be specific!

01The first step is to remove the old carpet. Start by removing the molding on the floor and remove the doors so you can pull the old carpet out and easily put the new carpet in. Remember to vacuum so you don't inhale a lot of dust, then use a utility knife to cut it into strips three to four feet wide.

02 Starting from one end, pull the non-adhesive part of the carpet and roll it up.

03 Do not remove the subfloor and make sure the floor is clean and dry. This is a good time to inspect the subfloor and secure any that may be loose so they don't squeak after carpeting is installed.

04Install a new non-stick strip. If this is a new construction, or if you plan to install carpet on the hard floors or inside the room rather than in front of the doorway. Leave about half of the space between the walls and make sure they are all facing the wall (they are called non-stick strips because there are two to three rows of sharp nails, using this means you don't have to glue the carpet), make sure these are not Adhesive strips are tightly connected.

Install the non-stick strips

01 Arrange the non-stick strips closely and butt them against each other so that the inner edges are downward and there is no overlap. Trim the excess backing around the edges and use tape to seal and unseal. A little glue will secure them firmly to the concrete floor.

Put carpets

01 Install carpets correctly. You need to start with four to six inches of overlap to cover the edge of the floor, which can be trimmed well to ensure just the right amount of coverage. Trim the first section, measure the length of the room, and add six inches. Mark the back of the rug then measure twice and mark with a chalk line.

Fold the rug to use your angled knife and cut through the back of the rug. Be sure to cut under a piece of scrap circuit board to protect the carpet underneath.

Stretching the carpet

01 Use your knees to press along one section of the carpet to the other end. You can take a ball-like object, which is a solid metal tool with teeth, and place it on a section of carpet and push it forward with your knees. This will give the carpet its credentials as the nails will grab onto it and then nail it down.

02 The carpet rack will be attached to the carpet, which is similar to the tool above, but takes longer. Place one section of the shelf on the wall and the other end where it joins (about six feet). Carpet racks also have teeth-like things that hold the carpet in place. When you press the activation lever, it causes the carpet to fully extend.

03 Stretch the carpet in a circle around the room and trim the edges close to the wall with a utility knife or the like.

Complete

01 Use the Stair Tool. Tuck the carpet into the gap between the non-stick strips and the wall. In the case of doorways, build edges to ensure integration with the wall. Finally, the vent holes are cut and formed into the baseboards.
