Where is Dingyuan in Suzhou?

Dingyuan is located in the ancient camellia village at the southern foot of Huqiu Mountain, covering an area of 100 mu. There is Taying Lake, the largest lake in Suzhou, and there are more than 30 ancient building sites. Dingyuan was built in the early Ming Dynasty. According to legend, it is the private residence of Liu Bowen, the founding minister of the Ming Dynasty, which contains relics such as Liu Bowen's tomb. Dingyuan has changed its owners several times in history and has been abandoned and rebuilt many times. In the early days of liberation, Dingyuan's buildings were in disrepair, and later it was designated as Camellia Village, which became the jasmine tea base in Suzhou.

In recent years, the two levels of governments in Camellia Village of Huqiu Town have vigorously developed regional tourism, introduced private capital and rebuilt gardens, which not only restored the former style, but also became a unique garden scenic spot that fully displayed Suzhou tea culture, Wu culture and water culture, attracting countless tourists at home and abroad.

Dingyuan has a distinctive promenade. Every plaque on the promenade is a colorful picture of the festival. Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Tomb-Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Beggar's Day, Mid-Autumn Festival, Winter Solstice and Laba Festival are all traditional festivals in China. In the festival introduction of the promenade, we need to pay special attention to two traditional festivals unique to Suzhou, one is the Flower Festival, and the other is the day when Lv Dongbin, one of the Eight Immortals, came down to earth. Flower Festival is the birthday of the flower god here. Every year, many tourists come here to worship the flower god and pray for themselves, their families and friends. On the other day of Lv Dongbin's return to Earth, every day, residents and tourists here will come to the street to play. The more people, the better, and the crowds are jostling with each other. It is said that on this day, Lv Dongbin will become a mortal and come to earth to be crowded with ordinary people. Whoever can successfully reach Lv Dongbin will have good luck in the coming year.

Dingyuan's water is rich in flavor, and it is quite spiritual when it walks all the way, accompanied by the flowing water of "Taying Lake". On rainy days, Taying Lake changed its former tranquility, the breeze was blowing gently and the blue waves rippled, which made tourists interested in boating in the lake.
