Temple introduction:
Meishan Temple is located in Meishan, east of Tongan City, where there are dense forests, steep rock walls and auspicious plum blossoms, and it is close to the mountains and waters, opposite to Brahma Temple in Dalun Mountain and Jiaxi in Tongan Film and Television City.
Meishan was called "Tongshan" in ancient times. The mountain is not high or steep, which is the barrier of the same city, and it is also the naming basis for the establishment of "Datong Field" in the late Tang Dynasty and "Tongan County" in the Western Jin Dynasty. Meishan Temple, founded in the Sui Dynasty, ranks as one of the three ancient temples in the Sui Dynasty along with Xialing Huangfo Temple and Shan Lun Xingjiao Temple (later called Brahma Temple). Meishan Temple is built on the mountain, including Daxiong Hall, Erlang Temple, Zhugongwen Temple, Gongde Hall and Lingyingzu Temple Pavilion, as well as cliff stone carvings, grottoes and Vatican Pagoda in the Song Dynasty.

When I came to Meishan Temple, the first thing I saw was the amazing Shimen. The gate is 23 meters high and 23.6 meters wide. It is all carved from granite, with four columns and three doors. The total amount of stone used in Dashanmen is more than 680 cubic meters, ranking first in the existing Shishanmen in China. The carving technology of the mountain gate is superb, and its complexity and difficulty are rare in China. The bucket arch is made of a whole piece of stone, with slotted joints between components, leaving no gaps in the middle, which is extremely firm.
The carving technology of the mountain gate is superb, and its complexity and difficulty are rare in China. The bucket arch is made of a whole piece of stone, with slotted joints between components, leaving no gaps in the middle, which is extremely firm. Sculptors imitate the carving style of the Song Dynasty and reflect the themes of Buddhist stories and traditional stories. The whole mountain gate has a unique shape. Eight special dragon pillars guarding the mountain gate on both sides, also known as the "Eight Dragons", form a three-dimensional triangle with the mountain gate, which is unique among the stone mountain gates in China. Other pillars supporting the mountain gate are stacked vertically first, and then backwards. There are more than 100 dragons all over the mountain gate, symbolizing wealth and good luck. It is reported that the construction of the mountain gate invited nearly 60 first-class Fujian Hui 'an stone carving masters, which took three years and cost about 6.5438+million yuan.
On the way up the mountain, there are towering old trees on both sides of the road. From time to time, there are a few clear birds singing, which makes Meishan Temple more quaint and quiet. Next to Meishan Temple, a three-story square stone pagoda with relief on all sides and a gourd-shaped spire stands impressively. This pagoda is called Brahman Buddha Stone Pagoda, which has a history of over 900 years. It was built in the Song and Yuan Dynasties, so it has a long history and high artistic value.
After climbing a few steps, I suddenly saw a huge grotto almost perpendicular to the ground. This grotto is located on the right side of Daxiong Hall in Meishan Temple. It is a natural stone wall, which makes people feel the ingenuity and exquisiteness of nature. More than 20 meters high grottoes are carved with niches, which are arranged in an orderly way, and each niche is carved with lifelike Buddha statues.
The Buddha statues here have different appearances and postures. I saw the Guanyin Buddha statue about four or five meters high, standing solemnly in the middle of the grottoes. Her light posture, soft lines and solemn and loving expression make people feel a pious respect. Lohan holds his chin in his hand, closes his eyes and lowers his head, meditating on the profoundness of Buddhism. I saw the dragon Lohan, glaring, holding the collar high in one hand, holding the faucet tightly in the other, and standing firmly on the dragon's tail at his feet. Lohan sat on the elephant's back, holding a scroll of scriptures in his hand, looking kind and serene. Lohan who picks his ears is naive. He is digging his ears intently with a spoon in his hand. His eyes were half closed, and his mouth was slightly upturned, revealing a smile. It's really leisurely. ......
Among these 87 grottoes, 84 Buddha statues are carved according to the prototype of the characters in the Buddhist classic "The Great Compassion Mantra", which makes people feel as if they have come to the Leidayin Temple in The Journey to the West. It is so solemn.
Meishan Temple's Daxiong Hall is modeled after the Song Dynasty, while the mountain gate refers to the architectural style of Wutai Mountain. At present, the Daxiong Hall is dedicated to siddhattha gotama, which is the largest white jade Buddha statue in Myanmar, weighing 65 tons. The jade Buddha of Sakyamuni is 9 meters high and consists of a lotus base, a statue and a backlight. The statue features Myanmar white jade, which is 5.65 meters high, 4 meters wide and 3 meters thick, weighs 65 tons and costs more than 4.7 million yuan.
