The geographical location of Xiamen University in Malaysia
Xiamen University is the first university in China to set up overseas branches. According to the cooperation agreement reached between Xiamen University and New Sunshine Group, Xiamen University Malaysia will be located in Shededingyi, Selangor, between Jaya City, Boutra, the federal administrative center of Malaysia, with convenient transportation and beautiful environment. The campus covers an area of 150 mu, with a total construction area of 475,500 square meters. The first phase has a construction area of 266,400 square meters and was put into use in September of 20 15. It is said that the total cost is about 654,380+0.6 billion yuan.
The Malaysian government and New Sunshine Group indicated that they would fully cooperate with the construction of Xiamen University. It is reported that the Malaysian state-owned enterprise Simai Group sold the land to Xiamen University at a "very favorable price". Xiamen University Malaysia Branch is independently run by Xiamen University, and its property is completely owned by Xiamen University.
The school also stressed that Xiamen University will not be for profit, and once it has a balance, it will be used for scientific research and student scholarships at the branch school.
