Plot summary

Young student Charlie (played by Chris O'Donnell) accidentally Witnessing several students preparing to tease the principal, the principal asked him to reveal the mastermind of the prank, otherwise he would be punished. With his worries, Charlie came to the home of veteran Lieutenant Colonel Sphalan (Al Pacino) to work part-time on weekends. The lieutenant colonel was once a staff member of President Lyndon Baines Johnson. He experienced war and many setbacks, and was blinded in an accident. The life of blindness has made Lieutenant Colonel Frank extremely sensitive to hearing and smell, and he can even identify the other person's height, hair color and even eye color by smelling his perfume. In fact, this all stems from his profound understanding and perception of life.

He spent all day doing nothing at home and lost the courage and confidence to live. He was ready to spend his last energy enjoying a wonderful life. He took Charlie on trips, ate delicious food, drove a speeding car, danced tango, stayed in luxury hotels, and then wanted to end his life. Charlie tried his best to prevent the lieutenant colonel from committing suicide, and from then on, a father-son relationship developed between them. Frank also found the courage and strength to live. At the end of the film, Frank delivers a passionate speech in the school auditorium, saving Charlie's future and satirizing the school's hypocrisy. The two were reborn through mutual encouragement. ;
