In 2004, there were many lightning disasters in China, which caused serious losses of people and property. Lightning disaster presents the characteristics of frequent occurrence, wide range and great influence. Casualties mainly occurred in rural areas, indicating that lightning protection work and awareness in rural areas need to be strengthened. According to the examples of lightning disasters reported in various places, lightning casualties 10 in 2004 are now announced.

(1) On June 26th, a severe thunderstorm occurred in Linhai City, Zhejiang Province, which killed 17 people and injured 13 people, causing great social impact.

(2) On June 27th, a strong thunderstorm occurred in Changde City, Hunan Province, killing three people and seriously injuring six others; At the same time, hospitals, electric power, communications, water conservancy, civil aviation and other 14 units were struck by lightning to varying degrees, and five counties such as Taoyuan and Hanshou were struck by lightning, resulting in direct economic losses of more than RMB10 million.

(3) On July 4th, a strong convective weather process accompanied by thunderstorm and hail occurred in Yanyuan County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Lightning killed six people and injured nine others.

(4) At about 6: 30 on July 4th/KLOC-0, a lightning accident occurred in Luoding, Guangdong Province, killing three people and injuring four others.

(5) On July 14, Fengfeng Mining Area and its surrounding towns and villages in Handan City, Hebei Province were struck by lightning, resulting in 5 deaths, 9 serious injuries and 7 minor injuries, which is the most serious lightning accident in Hebei Province in recent years.

(6) On July 23rd, a thunderstorm occurred in Juyongguan Great Wall area of Beijing, and at least 15 people were injured by lightning, which caused great social repercussions.

(7) On September 20th, a serious lightning strike occurred in Mayingtang Township, Zhijiang Dong Autonomous County, Hunan Province, killing five people and injuring two others.

(8) On September 6th, a thunderstorm occurred in wuxuan county, Guangxi, and 26 teachers and students in Wuxuan No.1 Middle School were injured by lightning.

(9) On September 18, a thunderstorm occurred in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, and 1 1 people were injured by lightning.

(10) On June 65438+ 10/day, a thunderstorm suddenly appeared in Ding 'an County, Hainan Province. Three students in the third grade of Longhe Middle School were struck by lightning, and 1 1 was injured.

Lightning protection:

1) When strong convective weather occurs, if you are outdoors, you should immediately look for shelter. Such as concrete buildings with lightning rods, steel frames or steel plates, as lightning protection places, vehicles with complete metal compartments can also be used; If you can't find a suitable lightning protection place, try to reduce the center of gravity and the contact area between the human body and the ground. You can squat down, put your feet together, put your hands on your knees and bend forward. Never lie on the ground, in a ditch or in a pit. If you wear a raincoat, the lightning protection effect will be better.

(2) Remember, if you are in the wild, don't be close to open areas or solitary trees on the top of the mountain, which are most vulnerable to lightning strikes; Don't stay in open waters and boats; At the edge of tall trees and forests, around wires and flagpoles, near tall objects without lightning protection devices, such as haystacks and tents, near huge metal objects such as railway tracks and long metal railings, at the top of mountains and commanding heights, etc., you can't stay. In addition, people in the wild, whether moving or static, should be separated by a few meters. Don't crowd together or hide in bigger caves.

(3) During lightning, it is best not to ride horses, bicycles or motorcycles; Don't walk in the open air with metal objects; Do not approach any part of lightning protection equipment; Don't use the mobile phone.

(4) Note that when your hair stands on end or your skin vibrates, you may be struck by lightning and you should fall to the ground immediately. People who are struck by lightning may be burned or severely shocked, but they will not be prosecuted and can receive treatment safely.

(5) If you happen to be at home during strong lightning, if there is no special need, it is recommended not to venture out; Close the doors and windows; Try not to use radios and televisions with external antennas, and don't answer the phone.
