What's the difference between the new video shooting software Protake and Filmic?

2. Code:

Protake and Filmic both support H.265 and ordinary H.264 coding, which makes the file smaller, the picture quality better and the post-processing pressure greater.

3. Frame rate:

ProTake has a maximum of 60fps@ 1080p and 24fps@2 160p.

The special achromatic science gives 60 fps @ 2160 p.

The maximum size of Filmic Pro is 240fps@ 1080p, and 60fps@2 160p, all of which can output log.

4. Gamma:

Protake: log-c, just like professional film camera (Arri).

Filmic Pro: F-log, developed by Filmic, only provides several 709 conversion LUTs.

5. Metadata:

Clean and tidy.

At present, Filmic supports a little more. Ties should be updated.

7. Special functions

Because of the Log-C curve, Protake can directly set a large number of existing arri-style LUTs, and ProTake has preset some in the app.

Filmic with remote software is equivalent to monitoring with wireless image transmission. Filmic is Apple's first official multi-camera simultaneous recording app, which can shoot both close-ups and panoramic positions.

The operation is basically the same, except that FilMic Pro supports switching between single-point autofocus/photometry and global autofocus/photometry, Protake has only one global mode.

On the radio side, FilMic Pro has more optional parameters, such as switching the built-in microphone and changing the recording bit rate and file format, which Protake does not support, but it is a bit confusing that FilMic Pro can not record the stereo that Protake can record.

In terms of auxiliary functions, FilMic Pro supports more hardware, DJI, Zhiyun stabilizer and several external lenses, and Protake is relatively less.

In addition, the ecological advantages provided by FilMic's family bucket can not be ignored. FilMic Firstlight (professional camera), FilMic Remote (professional display), FilMic Doubletake (multi-camera recording) and Apple Watch can all be used in combination with FilMic Pro, and Protake needs to be improved in this respect.

In terms of price, the lifetime buyout system of FilMic Pro is 98+93RMB, and Protake is 148RMB per year (73RMB at half price in the first year is unknown).

Summary: At present, from the perspective of function and price, FilMic Pro is a better choice, and Protake still needs efforts.
