Is the movie camera safety frame to avoid vignetting?

The Video Safe Box feature displays multiple concentric rectangular boxes in the viewport. Use these safe boxes to see the scale of the rendered output in the viewport. This option is particularly useful when rendering output that does not match the viewport aspect ratio.

The main purpose of the "Safety Box" is to indicate the safe area of ??the work displayed on the TV monitor. The border may take up 10% of the image, so you don't want important objects or actions to fall outside the "action safe zone". High-contrast titles that fall outside the "title safe" zone may bleed or be obscured by the borders of the TV screen.

1 Active Area

This area will be rendered regardless of the aspect ratio or dimensions of the viewport. The default outline color is mustard.

2 Regions (when rendering regions)

When this option is enabled and Render Regions and Edit Regions are disabled, the region outline will always be visible in the viewport. When this option is disabled, the area remains active, but its outline does not appear in the viewport. When "Edit Area" is enabled, the area outline is always visible and this switch has no effect.

3 Action Safe Zone

It is safe to include rendering actions within this zone. The Lock checkbox lets you lock the aspect ratio of the Action box. When Lock is on, use the Both spinner to set the percentage of the active area that is trimmed in the safe box. When Lock is off, you can use the Horizontal and Vertical spinners to set these parameters individually. The default setting for Active Area is

10%. The default outline color is cyan.

4 Title Safe Zone

It is safe to include titles or other information in this area. When used correctly, this area is smaller than the Action box. The Lock checkbox lets you lock the aspect ratio of the Title box. When Lock is on, use the Both spinner to set the percentage size of the title box relative to the action box. When Lock is off, you can use the Horizontal and Vertical spinners to set these parameters individually. The default setting for Active Area is

20%. The default outline color is light brown.

5 Household Security Zones

Displays additional security boxes available for any custom requirements. The Lock checkbox lets you lock the aspect ratio of the User box. When Lock is on, use the Both spinner to set the percentage size of the title box relative to the action box. When Lock is off, you can use the Horizontal and Vertical spinners to set these parameters individually. The default setting for Active Area is

20%. The default color is magenta.

6 12 Zone Grid

Displays a grid of cells (or zones) in the viewport. Here, "area" refers to the cells in the grid, not the scan line area.

The "12-zone grid" is a method used by video directors to talk about designated areas on the screen. The director may ask that the object be moved two blocks to the left and four blocks down. 12

The area grid is the reference method for solving this type of layout.

4 x 3 (Default setting.) Uses a 12-zone grid of 12 cells.

12 x 9 uses a 12-area raster of 108 cells.
