Source of inspiration-
The mountain on Pandora was partly inspired by Zhangjiajie in Wulingyuan, China, but it didn't come to Zhangjiajie in China for real shooting. In order to create the floating Hallelujah Mountain in the movie, designers draw inspiration from "various types of mountains", "but mainly from the karst landform in China." According to production designer Dylan Cole, Huangshan Mountain and some high mountains in Hunan Province and around the world provided inspiration for the creation of pumice.
From June 5438 to February 2009, director Cameron said at a press conference held in Beijing that the design of the floating peak was influenced by the Chinese peaks. "All we did was rebuild Huangshan Mountain in outer space."
