Where is Jieshou Liangwan National Wetland Park?

Jieshou Liangwan National Wetland Park is a national wetland park.

Anhui Jieshou Liangwan Wetland Park is located in Jieshou City in the northwest of Anhui Province. It mainly consists of part of the Quanhe River, a secondary tributary of the Huaihe River, Mawan, Nanjiwan, Jiangyanggou, and Jiulong. It consists of five parts, with an area of ??504.34 hectares, a wetland area of ??319.76 hectares, and a wetland rate of 63.4%.

Quanhe, the main river of Liangwan Wetland Park, has a surface width of 100 to 150 meters and a water depth of 8-12 meters. It has abundant water resources and Class III water quality. It is an important local fresh water source. The spring river and the ditches and bays on both sides are meandering and circuitous, maintaining the natural river shape. The reeds along the coast stretch for thousands of meters, and various wetland plant communities develop, with rich biodiversity. According to survey statistics, there are 33 species of zooplankton; 97 species of phytoplankton; 109 species of wild animals and 112 species of higher plants. Among them, there are 2 kinds of national second-level protected plants, including lotus and wild soybean; there are 9 kinds of national second-level key protected wild animals - white-fronted goose, mandarin duck, etc.

Liangwan Wetland is very rich in cultural landscape resources. It was once the main battlefield where the famous Southern Song Dynasty general Liu Qi fought against Jin Wushu, the former residence of Tian Yushi in the Ming Dynasty, and the camp where Liu and Deng’s armies marched southward across the Central Plains. Many stories about the deep love between soldiers and civilians are widely circulated here.

The People's Government of Jieshou City attaches great importance to the protection and construction of Liangwan Wetland. In October 2012, it established the "Jieshou City Wetland Park Management Bureau" with a staff-level establishment and a staff of 5 people. After unremitting efforts, the infrastructure construction and science popularization and education system of Liangwan Wetland Park have begun to take shape, and a Wetland Park Management Center and Publicity and Education Exhibition Hall have been built. Liangwan Wetland Park was approved as a provincial wetland park by the Anhui Provincial Forestry Department in June 2014, and was listed as a national wetland park pilot unit by the State Forestry Administration in December 2015.

With the advancement of the construction of Liangwan Wetland Park, a natural ecological, graceful and harmonious Liangwan Wetland Park has become a paradise for wild animals and plants in northwest Anhui to thrive and a base for wetland science education. A platform to spread the history and culture of Jieshou is gradually developing into a dazzling pearl in the Huanghuai Plain!
