How to take your own ID photo

Self-made ID photos can be roughly divided into the following five parts

1. Precautions for early shooting

2. Photo tone correction

3. Portrait microdermabrasion repair

4. Cut out the picture and change the background

5. Clothing synthesis

In the early stage of self-photography, Mainly pay attention to three aspects: light, background, and hair

1. The light must be moderate, normal indoor light is enough, and do not shoot against the light. We are taking ID photos, not artistic photos. Just stand at attention

2. For the background, try to choose a single piece. There are many choices, right? Most of the indoor walls are white. Don’t choose a complicated one, which is not conducive to later cutout, especially I am a classmate who is not very good at PS.

3. Hair is one thing to pay attention to. For boys, just comb it with a comb. Don’t make it too messy. For girls, comb your hair as far back as possible, like the following, as much as possible. Don’t put your hair in front of your body, otherwise it will be difficult to dress up later, and don’t cover your facial features

In short, it’s a sentence: if you shoot well in the early stage, it will take a few minutes in the post-production; if you don’t take the early stage, it will take a few hours to edit the film.

Let’s start today’s ID photo case teaching. The practice material is your own selfie

1. The first step is to correct the color. Generally, I correct the color directly. Perform it in the camera raw filter. Open the raw file with PS and it will automatically enter the camera raw filter. For ordinary JPG files, open the menu bar filter-camera raw filter. The shortcut key is Ctrl+shift+A

2. What we mainly adjust here is the color temperature and exposure. If your photo is a little yellowish or reddish, adjust its value in the direction of cyan. If it is cyan, adjust it in the direction of yellow and red. The final effect is quite satisfactory, without any bias.

In terms of exposure, indoor selfies without photography lights are generally darker. Increase the exposure a little. All values ??are not fixed and depend on the situation

3. Most of the time, general ID photo studios directly use plug-ins to quickly skin resurfacing. Here I save time and also use the DR skin resurfacing plug-in. If you don’t have a plug-in, read this article to get it

What are some? Recommended PS (Adobe Photoshop) plug-in?

If you don’t want to use plug-ins, just read the articles I wrote before. There are many articles about microdermabrasion

4 .After adjusting the position of the overall retouch, we use a white brush to paint on the mask

5. Boys generally have dry lips, so we use the lip enhancement function, then reduce the opacity of the brush, and then paint on the mask Slightly paint the lips

6. Most people’s eyes will have some bloodshot eyes, so we use eye modification, and then use a brush to paint the whites of the eyes and pupils

7.Ctrl+ Shift+Alt+E keys stamp the currently visible layer, open the menu bar-Filter-Liquify, we need to fine-tune the facial features and outline of the character. In Liquify, you can change the size, height, and outline of the facial features. Wait, but one thing you have to know is that you can't change the characters too much for the sake of beauty. Everyone has their own characteristics.

8. Here I simply adjusted the outline of the character’s left eye, chin, and neck. According to the actual situation, my model is already very handsome, right? Hahaha~

9. At this point, the process of skin resurfacing has almost been completed. Finally, make overall adjustments. Ctrl+Alt+2 to extract highlights, then create a new curve adjustment layer and slightly lift the curve

10. Continue Next, we extract Ctrl+Alt+2 highlights again and then Ctrl+shift+I to invert the selection, create a new curve adjustment layer, and lift the curve

11. In the shadow curve, smear out the overly bright area, because I The light of this character comes from the side, so it needs to be neutralized. If your light is astigmatism, just use step 9

12. Ctrl+shift+Alt+E key cover Print the currently visible layer and use the cropping tool to crop it. We need to trim some places that do not need to be saved. Generally, ID photos are taken above the chest

13. The following is to cut out the image. The cutout has There are many methods, the ones with a single background: color range, magic wand tool; for complex backgrounds, there are three generally useful ones: the first is selection + edge adjustment + mask; the second is channel + selection + mask; the third is: Path + channel + mask; (I will definitely explain all these cutout methods when I have time)

Obviously, my background is relatively simple, including when we change the background color of the ID photo, the background Most of them are pure white or red, etc.

Here I use the magic wand tool, adjust the tolerance a little smaller, and select the mode to add selections. By adding selections again and again, we will get the most accurate selection

14. After selecting the background, press Ctrl+shift+I to invert the selection, then add a mask to the selection, turn off the small eyes of other layers, and see the effect

15. At this time For our frequent use, we can save the characters in PNG format. If we take ID photos in the future, the above steps can be omitted. We can directly import the PNG image and adjust the position

16. Let’s start the ID photo. For production, create a new ID photo document, one inch is 2.5x3.5cm, two inches is 3.5x5.3cm

17. Menu bar-File-Insert embedded object, import the character saved in PNG format just now Come in and adjust the position and size

21. Menu bar Edit-Control Transformation-First Add thumbtacks around the character to prevent the entire position of the clothing from moving when adjusting the collar position

22. Next, click the left mouse button on the collar to add a thumbtack, but do not release the left mouse button. Click the key and drag to move the position. When adjusting, you can enlarge the image to facilitate more precise adjustment

23. Return to the ID photo layer, find the blending option under the layer panel or double-click the layer You can also add a little shadow to the clothes. The angle is based on the angle of the light and the opacity is reduced

24. Next we need to erase the excess shadow. First, add a mask to the ID photo layer and Ctrl+image. Layer 1 thumbnail, load the layer 1 selection, then Ctrl+shift+I to invert the selection, select the layer mask, and apply it with a brush

25. I found that the left face of the character is a bit prominent, so we went in again just now Liquify the adjustment, shrink the left face a little, and it will be fine

26. Ctrl+shift+Alt+E keys stamp the currently visible layer, and then execute Filter-Sharpen-USM Sharpening
