Photography What is brightness?

I always think that the focal length of the lens controls the perspective, and the wide-angle lens has a strong perspective, while the telephoto lens compresses the space and weakens the perspective. Is that right?

the only factor that affects perspective is your shooting position. But if you want to shoot an object at different distances and keep its size unchanged on the screen, you must change the focal length. To use a wide-angle lens, you must be close to the subject. Because of the wide shooting angle of the wide-angle lens, a large number of scenes in the foreground and background are photographed in the lens. If you want to use a telephoto lens, you have to widen the distance between you and the subject. At this time, the scenery in the foreground and background will change greatly. This means that when you shoot the same object with different focal lengths and make it the same size in the photo, the foreground and background of the photo will be very different. This is due to the change of perspective and lens shooting angle. The long-range lens can only capture a small part of the background, which is suitable for shooting close-ups. The wide-angle lens has a wide angle and can cover more backgrounds.

▲ Using telephoto lens to shoot buildings from a distance can create a feeling close to a two-dimensional plane.

▲ You can create a three-point perspective by shooting a building upside down in the vicinity. (What is a three-point perspective? Please see the "depth explanation" below)

So a wide shooting angle means that you can take an exaggerated picture with perspective?

yes. You can take a photo with exaggerated perspective by using the wide-angle end of your lens, but you must be close enough to the subject. When shooting scenery or street scenes with wide-angle lens, you need to find a foreground, so that there are points of interest and layers on the picture, otherwise the picture will appear empty.

In some photos, winding paths converge at one point. How was this taken?

Because of the perspective, two parallel lines in depth will be close to a convergence point in the photo. If you find the right angle, you can shoot the scene where they meet at one point. This point is called the vanishing point, and such photos will lead the audience's eyes to a distant place, such as a winding path or a flowing stream.
