The concept of "photographic literature" was first put forward by Cheng Dongfang. He published the article "The Prospects of Photographic Literature" in People's Daily on March 3, 1990/KLOC-0, and put forward the concept of "Photographic Literature" for the first time. In July, 1993, China Photographic Literature, edited by Cheng Dongfang, was published. Since then, photographic literature has really begun to move towards creative practice with independent consciousness. Founded in 1990, the annual Bing Xin Award (new work award, book award, art award) has been added since 2002. At the 13th Bing Xin Award that year, Cheng Dongfang won the "Special Contribution Award for Photographic Literature Creation".
