1June 1950 to1February 1952, Shipai was under the jurisdiction of seven districts in Dongguan County.

Shipai Town is located in the northeast of Dongguan, on the south bank of the middle and lower reaches of Dongjiang River. Shipai Town is located in the south edge of Luofushan fault zone in Northeast China, the southwest end of Boluo fault zone in Northeast China, and the Dongguan fault basin. The exposed strata are Sinian and Jurassic of Lower Paleozoic. It is a low-lying area, most of the cultivated land is relatively flat Putian, and a small part is riverside land. The terrain is high in the northeast and low in the southwest.

Shipai Town belongs to subtropical monsoon climate, characterized by warm spring and long summer without winter, abundant sunshine and rainfall, mild climate, extremely small temperature difference and obvious monsoon. Rainfall is concentrated in Dragon Boat Water from May to June and White Dew from August to September, which can account for more than 80% of the total annual rainfall.
