The Bridges of Madison County is a film adapted from 1995 American bestseller The Bridges of Madison County (written by robert james waller), and directed and starred by the famous director Clint Eastwood himself. Meryl Streep, the heroine, was nominated for Best Actress at the Oscar that year.

The story took place in Madison County, Iowa in the summer of 1965. Francesca (Meryl Streep), a lonely Italian housewife, met Robert (Clint Eastwood), a photographer who came to shoot the covered bridge, while her husband and children were out, and they soon fell in love. The four days they spent together became a turning point in Francesca's life. In her later years, she wrote down this experience and asked her children to sprinkle the ashes beside the covered bridge after her death.
