Characteristics of film mulching

It belongs to the anamorphic lens type, that is, when shooting, a horizontally compressed anamorphic lens is added in front of the original lens of the film camera, and the image is compressed into a slender shape through it. During projection, a horizontally magnifying deformable lens with the same magnification as that during photography is attached in front of the standard lens of the projector, through which the flattened slender image is restored to the normal state. The aspect ratio of this variant film is 1 to 1.65, and the screen is usually12m wide. The wide scene is just suitable for the human eye's perspective and looks very spectacular.

But at that time, the shooting and screening of such films needed corresponding equipment conditions. Therefore, it is difficult to fully popularize it for a while. So at the same time, a simple "widescreen" film method appeared, that is, when shooting or developing the screening copy, the upper and lower parts of the picture were covered, so that the visible picture showed the aspect ratio of 1 to 1.45, giving people the feeling of "widescreen".
