This little-known ancient village is a family residence built by Fang Yao, the prefect of Guangdong Navy and his brother in the late Qing Dynasty. It is also the largest and most well-preserved large-scale mansion-style residential complex in Chaoshan area.

Deanli has a long history. It was founded in Tongzhi ten years (AD 1871) and has a history of 15 years. Because it is a family residence, the whole building complex took 2 years to build. It is a wonderful work of architectural art in southern China with its huge scale, exquisite construction and exquisite shape. Even after 15 years of wind and rain baptism, it is still extraordinary and full of charm.

Because this ancient building complex still preserves the old appearance, not only its appearance is simple and natural, but also its layout and decoration are basically unchanged, so it is very old and tasteful, and every detail deserves careful tasting.

De Anli's attainments in architectural art are very profound. With his rare architectural layout and unique design style, De Anli was selected as a textbook of civil architecture in the Department of Architecture, South China University of Technology, Guangdong. At the same time, the architectural forms here are rich and well-preserved, and rare architectural forms such as bungalow, four-point gold, Wutingtong, pokeberry root and one-legged lion can be seen here, so it is regarded as "the complete collection of Chaoshan residential architectural forms" and can be called the museum of Lingnan architectural decoration art.

Deanli complex covers a total area of nearly 6, square meters, with a building area of 32, square meters, and is divided into Laozhai, Zhongzhai, Xinde 'anli, Shaoyuan and other areas. Among them, the architectural pattern of Laozhai is "a hundred birds fly at the phoenix", Zhongzhai and Xinde 'anli are "four-horse trailers", and the three villages are connected, with as many as 773 houses, and the outer Zhazhai River is a rare large-scale mansion-style building group in Guangdong and even the whole country.

The old village in De 'anli, even among many amazing Chaoshan traditional houses, is a model of architecture. Its most commendable is the extremely rare architectural pattern of "a hundred birds pay homage to the phoenix", in which "phoenix" is the main ancestral hall, with small ancestral halls on the left and right, followed by buildings such as "Wujianguo", "Great pokeberry root" and "Four Points of Gold", which guard the big ancestral hall from three sides.

The layout of rooms in the village is divided into official hall, ancestral temple, Buddhist temple, study, dining room, warehouse, attic, etc., with solid walled mansion and thick layers of roof tiles. The prominent family background and family glory of the owner are obvious, and the architectural structure with the big ancestral temple as the core is also in line with the traditional China ethics of "the ancestral temple must be built before the palace is built, and the patriarchal clan system should be known".

De 'anli has a registered population of 5, and there are still more than 1 people living in it, mainly in Laozhai and Zhongzhai. However, many houses have long since been deserted, walking on the bluestone road more than 1 years ago, with mixed tastes, smooth stone slabs on the ground and empty bird cages under the eaves, as if telling the glory of the past and the past life. The magnificent architectural style and ubiquitous historical imprint here are shocking and moving.

Long streets, deep alleys, scarlet doors and hard walls, strolling in De 'anli, time seems to go back to the Qing Dynasty. Facing the halls and pavilions, the wooden pillars on the eaves, and the exquisite doors and windows carved with gold lacquer, it has been a thousand years in the world for a while. An ancient well and an ancient tree all witness the vicissitudes of time, which makes people linger for a long time.

It is particularly worth mentioning that there are two famous protectors at the gate of the ancestral hall of the old stockade master: Qin Shubao and Weichi Gong. This kind of door-god painting is a folk art craft passed down in Chaoshan area. It uses traditional lacquer painting techniques and uses natural lacquer as the main material to create paintings. Nowadays, this craft is gradually lost, but it is still well preserved in De 'anli.

However, De 'anli is a little desolate due to lack of popularity, and some corners are overgrown with weeds. Fortunately, in recent years, De 'anli has been greatly renovated, and it has been rated as a cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province, selected as the first batch of "27 ancient villages in Guangdong Province", and was also rated as a national 3A-level tourist scenic spot in 21, thus attracting foreign tourists for the old stockade.

Nowadays, many old houses have been transformed into various antique shops. The porcelain, tea ware and wood carvings produced in various dynasties are on display here, which are retro and exquisite, and people can't put it down.
