Brand profile:
Salvatore Ferragamo 1898 was born in Boniteau, Italy, ranking 1 1 among 14 brothers and sisters. Because of the poor family environment, I began to be a shoemaker's apprentice in my early years to help make up for the expenses at home. In southern Italy at that time, shoemaking was regarded as one of the most humble jobs, but Ferragamo was full of ideals. He wanted to carry forward this despised craft, so at the age of 9, he made up his mind to create a perfect shoe that combines beauty and practicality. At the age of thirteen, he has owned his own shop and made the first pair of tailor-made women's leather shoes, thus starting the first step to build his own fashion kingdom.
19 14, Ferragamo came to America, first opened a shoe repair shop with his brothers and sisters, and then went to California. At that time, the film industry in California developed rapidly, and Ferragamo had an indissoluble bond with movies since then. He was known as a special shoemaker of movie stars, such as his Romanesque sandals.
It appears in many films, including Cecil B. DeMille's classic film The Ten Commandments. In the late 1940s and 1950s, Italian fashion developed rapidly, and the production capacity of Ferragamo factory reached 350 pairs of shoes every day. Many film and television celebrities, such as greta garbo, sophia loren, Audrey Hepburn, Eva Peron and Marilyn Monroe, are all eager for Ferragamo's shoes, and there are even rumors that Garbo once ordered 70 pairs of his shoes at one time.
As many stars began to wear Ferragamo products off the screen, orders increased greatly, but Ferragamo was not satisfied. He continued to try to find out the secret of making shoes that fit forever, and even studied human anatomy at university, while listening to chemical engineering and mathematics courses, exploring new knowledge and methods of caring for skin and using different materials. Ferragamo's shoes are durable and pay attention to natural balance, while leather shoes must be made by hand in the end.
1927, seeing the lack of experienced shoemakers in Italy, Ferragamo decided to go back to his hometown and open a shop in Florence with 60 employees. At that time, he was the first person to mass-produce handmade shoes. However, after the 1929 Wall Street crash, Ferragamo also declared bankruptcy on 1933 and was forced to concentrate on developing the local market. Leather was restricted because of the war, but it actually encouraged Ferragamo's design concept. He made the vamp with two materials: dyed coconut fiber and cellophane, the sole with wood and cork, with high-heeled platform shoes and sunken heel, and painted or engraved with colorful geometric patterns or decorated with golden glass. In 1936, Ferragamo designed the beautiful concave heel of the cork. Because of the shortage of iron pieces, he could not continue to add iron pieces to the arch of his shoes. In fact, these high-heeled shoes are not a novel concept, but his design made these styles popular and won the favor of women during World War II.
1947, Ferragamo won the Naiman Marcus Award for transparent glass shoes, becoming the first shoe designer to win this honor. His winning works are all carefully designed, with F-shaped heels, golden sheepskin and transparent nylon thread on the upper. 1948 Ferragamo continues to lead the trend, and extremely thin pointed high heels have become a gorgeous fashion on the feet, creating another new fashion. Ferragamo published his autobiography "The Shoemaker of Dreams" in 1957. At that time, he had created more than 20,000 designs and registered 350 patents. Ferragamo died on 1960.
