Skills of correctly shooting colors in underwater photography

How to shoot the right color underwater

Common errors:

Use automatic flash instead of forced flash;

Not close enough, some colors will be absorbed by seawater quickly, such as red;

Use automatic shooting instead of manual shooting;

Without using strongpoint or built-in flash, if you are in shallow water, the photos may still show decent colors, while underwater, the best color effect often depends on the flash.

Take the right picture with a flash. Color:

Don't shoot beyond 3 meters, but the macro should be closer, so that red and orange will be well presented at this distance;

Minimize the exposure to natural light, which will change the color of the subject;

In shallow water, you can't avoid the sun. At this time, try to increase the shutter speed, use the flash as the main light source of the picture, and adjust the aperture shutter setting to shoot. The method is this: you can cover the flash with your hand to shoot. If the exposure of the photo taken is normal, it means that your exposure setting is wrong;

Correct exposure, paying special attention to red;

Pay attention to the position of strong points, the light in front can increase color and saturation, but you need to pay attention to the histogram to avoid the influence of this direct light;

Choosing the right white balance, auto and sunshine are usually fine, and cloudy days will make photos look more yellow.

Underwater photography under natural light;

Full manual white balance, need to change every 2-3 meters, or shoot in RAW mode;

Calm shallow water, the depth is not more than 6 meters;

The sun is behind you;

Use filters to reduce the blue spectrum.

This photo has no filter and natural light, and the shooting distance is about 4 meters.
