How to take beautiful fashion show photos?

It seems easy to shoot models on the runway, but few photographers can concentrate on the whole process and take a lot of excellent photos on the fashion show, because there are a lot of photographers crowded together in the event, and many things may be beyond your control. So, for friends who like photography, how to take good pictures of models on the runway?

1, use telephoto lens.

To shoot the model on the runway, the shutter speed needs to be high enough to capture the moving steps of the model. Because of the reality of space, almost all photographers shoot with one hand, so as to minimize any ambiguity. The aperture of the camera lens can be adjusted to F/4 or F2.8.

Step 2 shoot by hand

In order to capture the best shot of fashion show, the shutter speed can be set according to experience when shooting manually. Use a 70-200 mm lens and set the speed to 1/200. If you don't want to have such trouble, anti-shake may slow down your shooting speed. You need to use the aperture between f/2.8-f/4 to shoot the model in an intuitive way.

In f/4 ISO 200, the best shooting speed you can see is 1/200, but the lighting of most projects is not so ideal. If the light is suitable, you can shoot at1125 f/2.8 iso800. If you need more light, you can only increase ISO.

3. Arrive at the shooting position in advance

Unless you are a photographer hired by the organizer, you don't have to arrive at the shooting scene in advance. If it is not the best to arrive at the shooting site ahead of time, choose the shooting location, adjust the best state, and wait for the activity to start. Under normal circumstances, when you choose a shooting position, other photographers will fully respect your choice space, and there is no problem of competing for the position. It is usually possible to arrive at the venue selection site 1 hour before the activity starts.

4. Don't use the flash.

Flash is not suitable for fashion shows, because you can't be the only photographer at the event. If the ambient light is not suitable, you need to manually adjust the exposure. Imagine that if all photographers use flash to shoot the same subject at the same time, it will definitely cause photographic interference and confusion.

5. Find the best position of light on the podium.

There will be several places on the podium, and the lighting is better than other places. Some catwalks have only one such place, and some places have several. The best place is not necessarily the brightest, because models under direct glare often cast shadows on their faces from above their heads.

Your task is to determine this position as early as possible in the program, choose settings for it, and shoot each model. If you can't find a suitable position, you will encounter many problems: uneven lighting, shadow on the model's face, overexposure of the face or body, model being cut (the photo is not full) or clothing (insufficient screen space), and so on.

6. Synchronize the image with the walking rhythm of the model.

Many novice photographers in fashion shows are waiting for models to take pictures after the fashion show. It can't be said that it's wrong, but it's really not desirable to take high-quality photos, because there are many amazing photos that models can capture during the catwalk. Photographers only need to see the model's footsteps and moving lines when the model is walking, waiting for the best opportunity to shoot quickly.
