1980 In May, there was an upsurge of "Marshal China and the Japanese Little Girl" between China and Japan, which originated from the photo "General Nie and the Japanese Little Girl" taken by the famous photographer Sha Fei 40 years ago.

1In August of 940, the Hundred Regiments War started. 2 1, the Eighth Route Army rescued two Japanese girls-Mihoko and Miko-in the battle against the Japanese-occupied Jingxing coal mine in Hebei.

Mihoko sisters were quickly sent to the front headquarters, and Nie Rongzhen, commander of Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region, came to visit after hearing the news. He arranged for a soldier to be a "nanny" for five-year-old Miyoko, and found a wet nurse for Miyoko who was less than one year old. Nie Rongzhen originally wanted to adopt them, but after much consideration, she thought it best to send them back to Japan. To be on the safe side, Nie wrote a letter to the Japanese officer stationed in Shijiazhuang. On August 25, he sent villagers with laundry baskets, carrying two little girls from village to village, and relayed them to the Japanese station at Weishan Station on Shitai Line. After that, Kichitaro, deputy stationmaster of Weishan Station, sent the sisters to Shijiazhuang. After receiving the two children, the Japanese army sent Nie a thank-you letter. 1940 10, Mihoko's uncle Kato Guoxiong took her back from Shijiazhuang to her hometown, Miyazaki Prefecture. Sister Miko died in Shimen Hospital of Shijiazhuang.

Since the Hundred Regiments War began, Sha Fei has been following the troops to participate in the battle. Nie was worried that he was in danger at the front, so he went to call him back and act with the headquarters. Sha Fei has just returned to the headquarters and witnessed Nie Rong Zhen taking care of the Mihoko sisters. He sensitively took more than 20 photos of Zhang Zhengui, leaving an immortal masterpiece General Nie and the Japanese Little Girl. Sha Fei once said to his comrades-in-arms: "These photos will be sent to Japan in a few decades, which may be effective."

Sha Fei's foresight was verified 40 years later. On May 29th 1980, People's Daily published a series of photos of Yao's article "Little Japanese Girl, Where Are You" and Sha Fei's "General Nie and Little Japanese Girl", which made this story public.

The next day, some Japanese newspapers reported the news. This incident caused great repercussions in China and Japan. The readers were very moved that Nie remembered the Japanese sister 40 years later, and were very concerned about the fate of the Mihoko sisters. They wrote or called the newspaper to provide clues. The reporter of Yomiuri Shimbun finally found Mihoko in Miyazaki after many searches and detailed verification. At that time, Mihoko was the mother of three children and ran a hardware store with her husband. Mihoko also saw the newspaper report about looking for her, and she was very excited. She immediately wrote a warm letter to Nie, thanking him for saving his life, and hoped to come to China to thank him face to face as soon as possible.
