Car model

First of all, the original car paint must be disposed of, because the paint itself has a thickness, and covering it with another layer will be too thick. On the one hand, it will look very distorted, and on the other hand, some car doors may not even close. Strictly speaking, some solvents for model paints on the market may react with the car paint, and some may release gases. As a result, there will be many bubbles on the surface of the car paint you spray, so the original car paint must be disposed of.

As for the processing methods and tools

The first step is to disassemble the car model. Of course, if the requirements are not high, you can also repaint the whole car, but the effect is difficult to guarantee, and it is not easy to handle. affect other parts. What is the specific method? Every car model is different, but generally a Phillips screwdriver can do it. However, you need to be particularly careful in some places because many parts of the model are glued. If you follow the bonding surface, you can remove the entire car. It is best to peel off the parts. Once the parts are broken or deformed, it will be difficult to deal with.

The next step is to deal with the original car paint. There are two methods. Sanding is more time-consuming and labor-intensive, but relatively safe, or you can wash it off with solvent. However, the solvent for alloy models is different from the Tamiya and Gunshi paints commonly bought on the market. Paints are not the same. Generally, the most toxic and corrosive solvents that can be washed away are thinner water. Unless you have experience and strong hands-on skills, we do not recommend it.

The next step is to process the surface of the model. Because there will be scratches on the surface when you scrape the paint, you need to carefully polish it with sandpaper. Use sandpaper in order from small to large. For polishing, just follow the order of No. 800-1200-1600-2000. Repair the obvious defects on the lower surface. If the scratches are deep, you can use plastic filling soil to repair them, but generally this is not necessary. Finally, carefully clean the dust and residual paint on the surface, and you can paint.

Coloring: For spray painting, you can choose to use a can of spray paint or an airbrush with an air pump. It depends on your experience, hands-on ability and endurance. Relatively speaking, can of spray paint is cheap and convenient, and you can do it as soon as you come up. The effect is average. Airbrushes require maintenance and cleaning, and you need to adjust colors by yourself, which requires high manual skills. However, because of its strong controllability and large adjustable range, the effect is relatively more ideal. The following methods are general, and the specific operation is up to you.

1. Check whether you need masking tape. If the parts are not completely disassembled, or some parts cannot be removed, then use masking tape to separate the colors. There are many in model shops, with various widths. Yes, cover the areas that do not need to be changed;

2. Apply a layer of water to replenish the soil. On the one hand, it can help you check the flatness of the surface again, and on the other hand, it can improve the adhesion of the topcoat. ;

3. Apply the color paint, which is the black you want. In fact, there are many kinds of black. You can choose the standard color from the can spray, or you can mix it yourself. I won’t go into details here, the key is the spray. Be careful to avoid wind and dust, and spray evenly over a wide area, similar to a sweeping feeling. Spray a thin layer each time, and then spray the next layer after it dries until you are satisfied. Be careful not to spray hard on one place, as there will be flow marks and drip marks, uneven thickness, uneven surface of the car, and ugly reflections.

4. Topcoat: The topcoat is a layer of transparent protective paint. According to your preference, you can apply bright oil or spray matte to create different effects.

After everything is dry, tear off the masking tape and assemble the car model back. Glue may be used during the assembly process.

After everything is completed, it is recommended to use model wax or Bilizu's furniture maintenance wax (I use this, it is cheaper than model wax and much more effective) to maintain the entire model, and finally use glasses cloth or Wipe the lens cloth until there is no residual wax on the surface. OK, you're done!

Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver, blade (to separate glued parts), sandpaper (coarse sandpaper can be used to remove the original car paint), paint solvent (not recommended if you are inexperienced), plastic filler soil ( It’s not necessarily necessary, but it will be used when dealing with relatively large scratches), water and soil, paint (can spray or if you need to adjust the color), masking tape, airbrush/air pump (if you don’t use can spray), foam/clips (The clip holds the parts on the foam for easy painting), Bilizu, and glasses cloth

That’s pretty much it. You need to analyze the situation in detail when you encounter it in actual operation. I hope I can help you
