Yi Zhou's works

Yi Zhou's works are explorations of surrealism and neo-realism, which combine imagination, literature, myth, philosophy and new technology, and permeate China and Mediterranean culture. While using unconscious symbolic language, it embodies the disturbing magic of illusory supernatural characteristics and fleeting life, love and death. By combining ancient forms such as marble sculpture and 35mm film with high-tech forms such as 3D animation, Yi Zhou's works show a cynical and ridiculous outlook on life that transcends time and space.

Yi Zhou's artistic works combine film, digital animation, photography, sculpture, painting, sketch and modern music. Her works mainly focus on exploring the boundaries between reality and illusion, imagination and madness, life and death, truth and lies. Yi Zhou's artistic expression is not only the use of multimedia, but also the integration of science into his own works. In 2009, Yi Zhou cooperated with NASA to create the aerogel sculpture Heart of the Air, becoming the first artist to cooperate with NASA.

DVF 20 1 1 is a brand-new 3D animation work commissioned by Diane von Furstenberg in a week, with Diane's portrait as the main body. Like a dream, from Diane's mouth, women representatives of different times were blown out: Audrey Hepburn, Maggie Cheung, Michelle Obama, wonder woman, marlene dietrich, Elizabeth Taylor, Angelina Jolie, Charlotte Pierluigi pierluigi casiraghi, Mother Teresa, and finally Diane von Furstenberg herself.

This animated work made its debut in the exhibition "DVF: Journey of Clothing" held at Pace Gallery in Beijing from April 3 to May 4, 1965. Zhou Yi replaced photography and painting with novel video works, conceived and created a dynamic 3D portrait, showing the images of female idols flying out from Diane von Furstenberg, a celebrity of the times. "Art Boat" also specially invited ennio morricone, a famous composer and winner of Oscar Lifetime Achievement Award, to create 3D animated portrait soundtrack for it. At the beginning of 2006, Vendome Cultural Association (Comité Vend &; OcircMe) invited Yizhou to carry out public projects for the famous Wangdom Square (1280 Tower). Zhou began to imagine the Vendom column in the square. In response to this pillar representing the supreme Vendom, she created two 8-meter-high pillars, which were placed on a diagonal line with the Vendom pillar as the center. These two columns are composed of 1280 small towers, forming a cylinder, representing "empty" and "full". Their shapes come from chopsticks in China, and people associate them with the populous China, which contains some geopolitical significance. Just like human beings, women and men alternate, emptiness and enrichment alternate in a unity.

1280 tower has an infinite spiral shape. Following the towers of Broncusi and Tatlin, the endless pillar of the third international monument, it continues to write the art and human history of the Tower of Babel. Except for different metaphorical symbols, all these works of art represent people, the universe and infinity. The Interactive Life, commissioned by the Italian luxury brand Hogan, stars Mary Charteris and Yi Zhou herself.
