Although almost everyone, including FOX executives, had doubts about Robert Redford's ability to take on the role in the film because of his original image of a handsome young boy. But the director and Paul Newman stood up and he got the role.

The filming process

When filming the explosion scene, the crew installed wooden boards in front of the camera for protection. When filming the scene where the Pegasus leaps out of the carriage, the crew laid a runway at the other end of the carriage and used a multi-camera shooting method.
