Evolution of Tianhui-1

The successful launch and operation of Tianhui-1 represents that China has mastered the stereoscopic photography technology of three-line array images, which is a milestone in China's surveying and mapping industry.

In 1980s, Chinese scholars began to pay attention to the development of three-line array stereophotogrammetry technology.

From 65438 to 0996, China's national high-tech research and development plan (863 plan) started the research on key technologies of transmissive three-line CCD space photogrammetry camera and began the research on transmissive photogrammetry satellites in China. This project solves the key technologies of three-line array image positioning in stereo mapping, such as reconstructing external orientation elements with three-line array CCD images, automatically collecting DEM and automatically generating orthophoto products, which verifies the reliability of camera values and the feasibility of camera application in space.

In 2000, China developed the experimental No.1 satellite and successfully launched it in April 2004, which comprehensively verified the feasibility of the transmission three-line array photogrammetry satellite from the technical system and laid a technical foundation for the successful development of Tianhui No.1.

On June 20, 2005, with the consent of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, the State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping organized a demonstration meeting on the demand and use requirements of high-resolution stereo surveying and mapping satellites, which was attended by 12 experts from 23 departments and 64 representatives. The meeting held that the urgent demand for high-resolution stereo mapping satellites put forward by the State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping is in line with the thinking of the 11th Five-Year Plan for civil aerospace. The demand analysis report of surveying and mapping departments and other relevant departments for high-resolution stereo surveying and mapping satellites is accurate and true; The main technical indexes such as spatial resolution, accuracy, sensor selection and on-board parameters of high-resolution stereo mapping satellite are considered comprehensively, which basically meet the use requirements and are feasible.

On June 30th, 2005, the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense organized the "Starting Work Conference on Comprehensive Demonstration of Civil High-resolution Stereo Surveying and Mapping Satellite Project", which defined the requirements for comprehensive demonstration of engineering projects. On August 25th, the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense organized a discussion on high-resolution stereo mapping satellites. The meeting held that users of high-resolution stereo mapping satellites are in urgent need, and the technology is basically feasible, so they can enter the project establishment process.

In 2006, the research and development of Tianhui-1 transmission stereo mapping satellite was started, referred to as Tianhui-1 satellite for short.

20 10 On August 24th, 15: 00, Tianhui No.1 0 1 was successfully launched by Long March II carrier rocket at Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.

20 12 On May 6th, 15: 00, Tianhui-1 02 satellite was successfully launched by Long March II carrier rocket at Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. Double-star grid operation is good, and all technical indicators meet the design requirements.

On July 20 10, China Tianhui Satellite Center was established, which was responsible for the development, construction, operation management and data processing of Tianhui series satellites, and provided product guarantee for various fields of national economic construction.
