Introduction to Lightroom Tools: What tools are commonly used in Lightroom?

In the film age, photographers can only complete the post-production of photos in the darkroom; In the digital age, post-software emerges one after another, which dazzles photographers. But when it comes to powerful functions and simple post-software, Lightrom is quite good. Today we are going to share with you some tools that Lightroom often uses in post-processing of pictures ~

Introduction of common tools in Lightroom:

1. Gradient filter.

It is common that the level of landscape photography rises, and the gradient filtering tool in Lightroom is a sharp weapon to deal with this problem. After opening the gradient filter tool, you can put the mouse on the filter point, change the selection range by moving the feather line, and then adjust the exposure, contrast, color and other parameters (note: there are many adjustable parameters, which can be adjusted according to your own needs). Gradient filter can be used in many occasions, try it yourself!

Adjusting brush

The embedded brush adjustment tool for gradient filters is very common. This tool is like a simplified Ps mask, adjusting the area drawn by the brush. When you choose to adjust the brush tool and move the brush to the photo, you can see that the brush contains two circles, while the brush is solid inside and feathered outside. If you want to see the range of strokes, please cover the selected mask with a tick (arrow) at the bottom of the picture, and the red part is the area where the brush works.

3. Color temperature

The tool of color temperature is essential for landscape photographers. Using Lightroom software, photographers can change the color temperature according to their own preferences, without changing the color temperature of the camera in particular when shooting. If you find the color temperature balance point through the straw in the yellow box in the figure, you can also automatically correct the white balance. But it is best to use RAW format when shooting.

4. Highlights/shadows

For landscape photographers, they often encounter scenes with large light ratio. Many times, due to various reasons, post-adjustment is needed. Therefore, in this example, the highlight and shadow tools play a great role in restoring the details of highlights or dark parts in the photo.

5. Tone curve.

In Lightroom, similar to the curve in Photoshop, you can adjust all the tonal areas of the picture very accurately. At the same time, pay attention to the places marked with yellow borders in the picture and try it, perhaps intentionally or unintentionally.

6.high-speedlaunch speedboat

In this toolbar, you can see HLS, color and black and white tools, in which HSL and color have the same function. The hue, saturation and brightness of red, orange, yellow, green, light green, blue, purple and magenta can be adjusted separately, and at the same time they cooperate with each other, which is very convenient. (Tip: When the mouse clicks on the small circle with yellow border in the picture, move the mouse to the picture and the image will change. )

Step 7 be clear

Compared with the contrast tool, it not only enhances the dark and bright parts, but also makes some highlights and shadows lose their layering. Clear adjustment can not only strengthen the details, but also be very suitable for keeping bright blocks and making shadows lose their layering. Note: the parameters should not be too large during adjustment, otherwise many problems will easily occur.

8. Brightness/saturation.

Both of them are color matching tools, but the emphasis is different. Saturation affects the overall color density of an image, while vividness mainly affects areas with high color density. Pay attention to color overflow when adjusting the brightness and saturation of photos. The following pictures are saturation, brightness 50 and contrast of the original picture.

9. Amendment

In landscape photography, horizontal line is not a common problem, and two tools in Lightroom can solve this problem. One is cutting overlap, and there are grids for reference; The other is lens correction, which is used to adjust more parameters when using the lens correction tool and has the function of perspective correction. Lightroom tools, Lightroom 10 photographers' common tools, and 10 photographers' most common tools.

10. Sharp

For landscape photography, the clarity of photos often becomes an important indicator pursued by photographers. So sharpness has become one of the most commonly used tools for landscape photographers. But when using this tool, we should also pay attention to the fact that the size of the parameters depends on the situation. I believe everyone understands that there are too many.

These LR tools are not only common tools when dealing with pictures, but also necessary tools for many landscape photographers. Finally, if you want to learn more LR skills, just learn from our teacher in class ~
