Alias Hu. Born in Nanjing, Jiangsu, moved to Shanghai in 19 13. He is an accomplished painter in China, and his works won the Wu Changshuo Prize. At the same time, he was one of the pioneers of China's early photography. 1928 co-organized "China Photography Society" with Beijing Guangshe Lang Jingshan, Huang Bohui and Chen Wanli. He published the article "On Artistic Photography" in the sixth issue of the third volume of Tian Peng's Miscellanies of Photography, which is the earliest monograph on the difference between artistic photography and painting in China. 193 1 autumn, in order to "commend the real art, improve the standard, and make the national art have the spirit of the times and national characteristics", he founded "China Photography Miscellanies" at his own expense.
