How to set up a camera just after playing photography

It is true that people nowadays like taking photos more and more, but there are also many people who don't want to be limited to taking photos with their mobile phones. There are also many people who play with cameras directly. Do you know how to install the camera you just bought? Get to know each other together.

Rule 1- photo format and size-

Generally speaking, it is best to use large-size and high-quality JPG. The default storage format is DNG (Leica's RAW format). DNG is used for archiving and thinning, and its post-processing ability is better than JPG.

Much higher, while JPG is used for batch processing and quick drawing.

Take q as an example. The photo storage format is JPG, DNG+JPG, DNG, and the pixels of JPG can be adjusted according to your needs. 24/ 15/8M is the most accurate size, corresponding to 28/35/50.

The dimension of viewing angle,1.7/1.1/0.5m, is the smallest precision dimension.

JPG pixel setting of LeicaQ

Under normal circumstances, we will choose the option of larger size and better image quality, but in some cases, you can choose small and medium-sized JPG, such as shooting sports materials, news and other topics that need a lot of shooting and fast camera processing.

JPG is more dominant. First of all, these themes don't need high quality. On the other hand, it can shorten the time for the camera to process data. On the other hand, your memory card won't be full soon.

Think of you chasing kids and snapping them up. If you still use DNG+JPG, I'm afraid the memory card will soon be insufficient!

LeicaQ, the picture is from the network.

Second, white balance.

I often meet friends and ask me: Why do my photos turn yellow, especially indoors?

This is because the color temperature tends to be warmer under indoor lighting (of course, some lights are colder). As can be seen from the following figure, the white balance of the picture is very different with different color temperatures ("Color temperature" in the following figure refers to Lightroom.

Adjustment value in).

Photographed at the Leica Orson Park Experience Center in Junfeng, the shooting equipment: Leica10+35/1.4, ISO800 1/350.

At this time, the automatic white balance of the camera is awkward, and the photographer will turn yellow, which is very ugly. What should I do at this time? You need to use a custom white balance.

Strictly speaking, it should actually be a 18 degree gray card. Of course, we can use a piece of A4 white paper instead, which is very convenient to use. We need to find the white balance setting in the camera menu, select the custom white balance or gray balance card, and then tell the camera, "This is white!" "

Then the camera will obediently display the correct color temperature according to your instructions.

Find the option of custom white balance (called gray balance card in Q, because it is different in different machine menus).

Enter this setting to shoot A4 white paper, and then half press the shutter to return to the shooting state for shooting.

But pay special attention. After shooting a scene, set the white balance back to automatic, otherwise the color temperature will be weird when shooting the next scene.

Third, sensitivity.

The setting of sensitivity generally does not need to be adjusted frequently in the same scene. The specific adjustment of parameters still depends on the actual situation. For example, when sweeping the street, I usually turn the aperture to.

F/8, and then ISO will generally be adjusted to 400. Generally speaking, the shutter takes at least 1/250 seconds to capture the "still" moment in the street.

LeicaQ adjusts ISO

Of course, you can also choose ISO 100 or 200, but there is a reason to choose 400. If it is not sunny, ISO400.

It can ensure that you can have a faster shutter speed even with a small aperture, and now the high sensitivity performance of digital cameras is also quite good.

Rule 4- Measurement Mode-

There are many metering modes, such as spot metering, center focusing metering and multi-zone metering.

Spot metering is aimed at a small area, accounting for only 1~5% of the whole picture. Spot metering is a popular metering mode for advanced players, because it can shoot more and more challenging topics, such as Gao Fancha's photos (like portraits with big backlight), or stage photos, sports photography, close-ups and so on.

Central focus metering is the most widely used metering mode, and most cameras use it as the default metering mode. This metering method is suitable for shooting most subjects, because it takes about 60% of the center of the picture as the metering focus, and at the same time takes into account the edges of the picture, such as photos with the center as the theme, personal travel photos, landscape photos and so on.

Multi-area photometry is the camera's photometry of various areas in the picture, which is widely used in various scenes from scenery to snapshots to measure the overall brightness of the picture on average. It is suitable for shooting large scenes or taking pictures, and the scene with relatively positive light source and uniform illumination has the best effect.

The fifth point-focus mode-

Focusing modes can be roughly divided into two types: camera automatic focusing mode and photographer manual focusing mode. Some Leica cameras have peak focusing function to assist manual focusing.

There is an "Auxiliary Manual Focus" option in the LeicaQ menu.

The emphasis here is on peak focusing. During peak focus, the focus area will be highlighted. Peak focusing is a highly accurate focusing state. Usually, we will set its display color to red, or we can change it according to our own preferences.

Like LeicaM240, M-P, M 10, LeicaQ, SL, TL2.

Both have peak focusing function, which can be adjusted. This focusing method is especially useful when shooting at night and focusing with large aperture. It is much easier to focus on the macula than on the paraxial viewfinder.

LeicaTL2 peak focusing

Also, when SL and TL2 switch to M lens, we will use peak focus. In addition, M lens and macro switching ring can only be shot by screen view, so peak focusing is the best choice.

LeicaM-P with macro adapter ring, peak focus shooting.

Rule 6- Exposure Mode-

Aperture priority (A), shutter priority (S) and full manual shift (M) are the three most commonly used exposure modes.

Generally speaking, when shooting portraits with large aperture and sweeping the street, I will choose aperture first, because at this time we need a relatively established aperture value-large aperture shallow depth of field and small aperture sweeping the street. Aperture priority allows us to control the depth of field ourselves.

Aperture priority: put the aperture at a certain value and the shutter at the A position.

Shutter priority: put the aperture in position A and the shutter at a certain value.

Shutter priority mode is convenient to control the dynamic performance of the picture; When we shoot some scenes with fixed parameters or need stable exposure (such as shooting long exposure, shooting car tracks and star tracks), M file is more suitable.

Sometimes the camera can't correctly judge the exposure I want. For example, if the light ratio is too large, the camera's metering is easy to be inaccurate. At this time, you can also use M file to control exposure.

M range: the aperture and shutter are manually controlled.

When we play photography for the first time, we should remember that the main purpose of using the camera is to take good photos and realize our shooting intention, rather than making people feel that "you are great" can only be forced by manual mode.

Of course, if you are willing to explore slowly in full manual mode, I believe you will be familiar with the camera faster. If you encounter problems in the use of the camera, you can write a small series in the background, and we will try our best to help you answer them ~
