Exposure zoom photography method
Photography is now full of possibilities, and there is nothing you can’t imagine and photograph. Below is the exposure zoom shooting method I shared, let’s take a look.
As the saying goes: "For example, painting is an art of addition, and photography is an art of subtraction." Generally speaking, the quality of photographic works often depends on the creativity of the photographer. How to express complex things in the real world in a simple way through different composition methods, long-term shooting experience, and inspiration at the moment of shooting is the photographer's job. Now let me first introduce you to how you can use your zoom lens to create a very special shooting technique: the exposure zoom shooting method (commonly known as zoom shooting).
As the name suggests, the "exposure zoom photography method" takes advantage of the characteristics of the zoom lens. While using an appropriate slow shutter speed to shoot, the photographer quickly turns the zoom ring, thereby creating a picture of the surroundings in addition to the protagonist of the photo. Due to the change of focal length during exposure, the scenery becomes a dynamic photography of linear diffusion. Through this shooting technique, the photo can not only lead the viewer to travel through time and space in the photo, but the sense of time movement often also attracts the viewer to focus on the protagonist at a fixed point.
The "exposure zoom shooting method" can be divided into two different shooting methods. One is to change the wide-angle end of the lens to the telephoto end (spreading inward from the center point). The other is just the opposite, using the telephoto end of the lens to change to the wide-angle end (spreading out from the center point). Of course, these two shooting methods have different effects. The success rate of shooting is very focused on the slow shutter speed, the stability of shooting with both hands and the protagonist in the photo.
The above picture uses the wide-angle end of the lens to change to the telephoto end, giving the photo a sense of speed and movement, and the background spreads from the outside inward. Also because the scene seems endless, using the "exposure zoom shooting method" can bring out a dynamic sense of traveling through time and space.
The pictures above and below are the opposite. They use the telephoto end of the lens to shoot at the wide-angle end, and the background spreads from the inside out.
Key points of the "exposure zoom shooting method":
1. Please set the camera to Shutter Priority mode first.
Shutter priority mode helps fix the shutter speed at a slower speed, allowing photographers to change focal lengths during longer exposure times.
2. Set the shutter speed to 1/15 ~ 1/20.
If the shutter speed is set slower than 1/15, the photographer is more likely to destroy the beauty of the photo due to hand vibration when turning the zoom ring during exposure.
3. Compose the picture first, then focus on the subject and keep pressing the shutter halfway. Take another breath and while pressing the shutter button, quickly turn the zoom ring.
An ordinary scene can bring out an extraordinary feeling by properly using the "exposure zoom shooting method"! Try it too.
