Basic concept of white balance

"No matter under any light source, white objects can be restored to white", and the phenomenon of color deviation when shooting under a specific light source is compensated by strengthening the corresponding complementary colors. All the photos above were taken in the sun, only the setting of white balance was changed. The color cast produced by photos under various white balances is the compensated complementary color.

When using a film camera, in order to compensate for these color deviations, various color filters should be used when shooting. The basic principle of a digital camera is similar, and the white balance function is equivalent to a color filter.

However, there is no filter similar to "automatic white balance" in color filters, and there is a big difference between them in this respect. Generally speaking, it is enough to choose AWB, but under certain conditions, if the timbre is not ideal, you can choose to use other white balance options.

App application

1. This concept is almost absent in traditional photography. The so-called white balance is to adjust the proportion of the three primary colors of red, green and blue under different lighting conditions, so that they become white after mixing.

2. Make the photographic system get accurate color reproduction under different lighting conditions. It should be said that this is like our human eyes, which can distinguish the inherent colors under different colors. It's like correcting colors with a color filter.

3. It's just that digital cameras don't adjust the color temperature by changing color filters, but use circuits to change the gain of electrical signals generated by different colors of light.

What is white balance?

Literally means white balance. White balance is an index to describe the white accuracy of the mixed red, green and blue primary colors in the display. White balance is a very important concept in the field of TV camera shooting, through which a series of problems such as color restoration and tone processing can be solved.

How to set white balance

Blue-green-red photosensitive balance is set at 3200K color temperature. When the ambient color temperature is 3200K, the camera color temperature filter is set at 3200K, which can restore the scene correctly. When the ambient color temperature is 5600K, the camera color temperature filter is set at 5600K, which can restore the scene correctly.

When the ambient color temperature is within the range of 3200K 1000K and 5600K 1000K, the color reproduction acceptable to human eyes can be obtained by using the white balance preset function. Because the color temperature deviation is not big, the picture taken shows subtle color changes.

This has advantages. Different living environments will have different colors due to the influence of environmental colors and light differences. If white light is adjusted everywhere, different environments will show the effect of single white light illumination, and this rich color change can be preserved by using white balance preset.
