Guest test driver, track hero! Talking about the new generation of Porsche-Taycan Turbo

Taycan, derived from Turkish, means the soul of the horse. As a traditional German sports car brand, it is the general trend to launch new energy products in the new generation. Although this is an era of automotive chaos, new energy and traditional gasoline vehicles are competing in the market. The former is not yet fully mature, and the latter is still in the market. Optimization, and hybridization is a bit embarrassing. For traditional car giants, they have their own set of variations on the philosophy. The Taycan is the beginning of a new era for Porsche.

Inheriting Porsche’s car-making philosophy, a pure electric sports car not only pursues numerical superiority, speed, performance, and amazement, but it is not the only one. It also has Porsche’s consistent strengths, excellent driving control. , which must also be fully reflected in electric vehicles, is the true mission of Porsche.

Yes, when Mission E was released, I did feel completely fascinated. We were among the first customers in Guangzhou to put down earnest money.

My first impression of Mission E, a representative of technology, sports and a new generation. In particular, the tall wheel arches on the left and right front of the car feel a bit like the Le Mans Racing 919. The self-luminous font of PORSCHE on the back, as well as the drone on the rear of the car that is widely rumored on the Internet, are all selling points that completely fascinated me.

When the Taycan global press conference was held in China, I was invited to Xiamen to witness this grand ceremony of the century. I was very honored and I also posted a report.

I have always heard that the Taycan is 90% similar to the Mission E. This is true. I discovered it when I came face to face with the Taycan. But that difference of 10% and 10% is no coincidence. It is exactly what I said above that attracts me the most!

The large wheel arches on the left and right of the front of the car, the illuminated fonts on the rear of the car, the drone actually knew it early in the morning, and the black and white Mission E seats inside are also missing. The above is indeed 10%, and the others are basically the same. This is the disturbing 10%!

The top is the four-point light of the Mission E, and the bottom is the four-point light of the officially mass-produced Taycan. The concept is implemented, but the concept is still a concept, and mass production means mass production.

Compared to the global press conference in Xiamen, due to the epidemic, it was changed to a regional basis. It is not as large-scale as before, but it has not lost its enthusiasm and still has a large following.

"Electric Chi Fascination" just expresses the personality of this Porsche pure electric civilian coupe. Taycan is launched in three models, with Turbo S as the flagship product, and Turbo and 4S as the basic product line. And the entry-level version that I love is nowhere to be found internationally, let alone here.

Radio DJ Zeng Zijie

No matter how fancy the description is, the appearance is still believed. Ten people can see it and have twelve opinions. Although it is nearly 90% similar to the concept car Mission E, it is obviously much more restrained and has more people-friendly lines, which seems to have compromised a lot for the mass market. (This is what I least want to see)

Although the front face of the Porsche family has become gentler, it is still the face of inheritance. The four-point headlights are still the focus. They are the same as the concept car Mission E, but they have been changed to have lampshades, which is always the production car.

The teardrop-like thing under the light is the aerodynamics of the front wheel, like an air curtain, which serves to reduce the turbulence of the front wheel.

One thing that is particularly eye-catching about the appearance of this Taycan Turbo is the huge and full 10-piston braking system. You must know that this one is still a 680-horsepower beast! However, it is still a conventional brake disc, and PCCB ceramic brakes are still optional.

Taycan has smooth sideways lines, a bit like an extended version of the 911 Carrera. The rear is rounded, and the tail wing is integrated with the rear window. When the speed reaches 90 kilometers per hour, 140 kilometers per hour, and 200 kilometers per hour, the tail wing will rise at three angles, like a 911 effect.

A brief summary of Taycan’s appearance: Everything depends on the color you choose. For example, this black jade car is relatively low-key. You can tell it is a Taycan at a glance. The dark color will weaken the key details. Although it is still a Porsche, some people would think it is a new Panamera.

The interior of the Taycan clearly reveals the future direction of Porsche. It has always been said that Porsche always has its own philosophical logic and will not just follow the trend of blind high technology.

Sitting in the cabin will make people feel familiar, because this is a Porsche. At the same time, it also has a sense of fresh technology, because this is a new generation of pure electric Porsche.

Different from the new generation of new energy pure electric vehicles, Porsche did not deliberately tell the world that this is a completely new concept, an unprecedented, new product that subverts everything, but a new product that you are equally familiar with. Porsche, and the epoch-making innovative technology inside will actually serve as your support and serve you. It uses the consistent texture and layout of gasoline vehicles to interpret the first new pure electric Porsche product full of futuristic feeling. Therefore, the interior layout logic is still inherited, but the content is replaced by the new generation of technology.

With up to four display screens, the interaction between people and vehicles is multi-dimensional and rich. The central control touch screen still has a textured tactile response, replacing the cold and insensitive touch screen. version. The seats are newly designed with a thin body, which is okay, but not bad. They are quite comfortable to sit on, but I personally think the 911 style is more pleasing to the eye.

A brief summary of the Taycan’s interior: Although the layout is still very Porsche, the interior design is full of futuristic technology. It is not difficult to use, but it requires exploration and getting used to.

To learn more about the first pure electric Porsche, the Taycan was transported to a brand new go-kart track for testing on a flatbed.

Firstly, you can have a safe and enjoyable test on the track, and secondly, you can take photos of the Taycan on the track. (Although it is only a kart track, it is still challenging for general compact driving)

The track is not big, narrow and has many turns. Although it is not possible to test its top speed, it can simulate general daily sports driving. Feel the soul of its electric Porsche. I, the venue owner and driver YC, and the TG team all tried a mileage of 60 kilometers!

The electric car takes off in an unmistakable 3.2 seconds. Starting from a standstill, Taycan Turbo's official 0-100km figure is 3.2 seconds, but the real feeling is even stronger. Different from gasoline cars, the peak of pure electric vehicles comes immediately, and the instant burst of acceleration is beyond psychological preparation. It is also 3.2 seconds, which is different from driving an R8, Lamborghini, or Larry. The data may be the same, but the intuitive feeling is stronger.

It may also be that there is no exhaust sound, which affects the subconscious inertia and enhances the pure feeling of acceleration. It's a pity that it can't reach the top speed and can't feel the unique two-speed shifting feeling.

Narrow, curved and varied, the Taycan Turbo performs surprisingly well. When speeding on a narrow track, the steering wheel is always accurate, the damping is just right, and the road feel is the same as that of a regular Porsche sports car.

The feeling is still solid when entering and exiting corners, with slight roll. Its new generation air suspension is very good. The four-wheel drive system with two permanent magnet motors at the front and rear makes the cornering limit higher. After I warmed up, I started When accelerating the lap time, it grips the road, sticks to the apex of the corner, and accelerates out of the corner very well. I squealed the tires in every corner. The Taycan Turbo is a bit surprising.

The braking systems of the top ten and rear four are unfortunately not equipped with PCCB as standard. Speaking of braking, we still have to talk about its full ten-piston calipers!

In addition to being huge, it is also highly efficient. It's rare to have the same linearity, and you don't feel frustrated when braking at slow speeds (it also depends on your driving habits and skills), and in sports driving, to make this 2.3-ton sports car speed up and down freely, this top ten is very important.

A brief summary of the Taycan Turbo driving control. I have always known that Porsche pays attention to the control and texture of driving. Pure electric means that the driving method is different from the traditional one, and there is no traditional gearbox and its energy recovery system. It's not easy to adjust the above to approximate the driving feel of a traditional car, but Porsche did it, and it was surprisingly good.

Taycan may seem simple, but its innovative technology is anything but simple. - Permanent magnet synchronous twin motors are small in size but high in efficiency and have high energy conversion. However, they are expensive and prone to heat. Because of this, it can be seen that Porsche spares no expense and therefore specializes in thermal energy management to enhance performance. -Battery Thermal Management Porsche has spent a lot of resources to develop, and excellent thermal management not only controls the thermal problems of its motors, but also provides an environment for multiple high-speed ejections. - Four-level air suspension lifting. In order to enable daily commuting regardless of the environment, the air suspension is divided into four levels. The passability and sportiness are impeccable. - Rear axle four-wheel steering, combined with the four-wheel drive system, provides better steering grip. - PTV Pus enhanced differential system This is only useful in extreme driving, and is a must for traditional gasoline cars such as 911, 718, and high performance. - PDCC Sport Dynamic Control Porsche's original 4D chassis dynamic control system provides a better and more balanced dynamic environment.

I am indeed a Porsche fan, but that doesn’t mean I must only say good things. I like to be sincere and pertinent. Although I was one of the first clients to place an earnest money deposit, I backed out last December. It's a personal reason, not a Taycan issue.

There are several reasons. First, I chose Taycan not because of its pure electric power, but because of its Mission e appearance. However, the 90% similarity of Taycan does not include things that fascinate me. Second, I personally only want the entry-level version with additional configurations. There are currently no versions available for sale that cost less than one million yuan per motor. Third, after the new 992 was launched, it made me think again. With more than one million yuan, why not choose the most classic 911 Carrera? The new 992 may be out of budget, and it would be good to test drive a second-hand car after a year. Fourth, so far, I still like gasoline performance cars. The above are the reasons why I decided to return the Taycan.

Although I have retired, it does not mean that I have stopped paying attention to Taycan. I still think Taycan is an excellent pure electric vehicle. After this in-depth 60-kilometer test drive, I have a deeper understanding and understanding of the Taycan. I have my own personal opinions on the advantages and disadvantages of the Taycan, which I would like to share with you.

The advantages of my personal perception of the Taycan: 1. The driving control of the Taycan indeed exceeds expectations. Porsche has fulfilled its promise. The Taycan is indeed a pure electric car full of driving pleasure, and its driving control essence is consistent with It is the same as a gasoline car, including the response of the throttle, the smooth feeling when empty, and even if energy recovery is turned on, there is no sudden stall. 2. The exquisite and well-made interior achieves a good balance between innovation and inheritance, which has a great advantage among its own large group of old car owners.

3. Porsche is very self-aware. Buying a Porsche is mainly for driving, not riding, so it will not blindly pursue different market orientations such as AI and highly intelligent autonomous driving. Porsche still puts driving pleasure first. 4. Black technologies that are practical but not flashy, such as permanent magnet motor and thermal energy management, level 4 air suspension dynamic chassis, rear axle steering, etc., all exist for the pleasure of driving.

My personal shortcomings of Taycan: 1. The price is too high, simply put, it is expensive! As mentioned above, it has not yet reached the point where pure electric vehicles dominate the world, and the current pricing is still relatively low. And the Taycan Turbo S costs nearly 2 million, so I would just buy a V8. 2. I personally don’t like the electronic exhaust sound effect. If it doesn’t exist, it doesn’t exist. I don’t want to make a fake one to deceive myself and others. I admit that this is my personal bias. Please forgive me. 3. Battery life problem. Maybe I’m not used to it yet, so I’m always on tenterhooks. When I received the Taycan Turbo, it had a cruising range of 335 kilometers. When I had to return the car, I still had 150 kilometers left. However, pure electric power consumes electricity even when not driving, including air conditioning. I actually walked 60 kilometers, but the electricity consumption was reduced. It has traveled 110 kilometers. Unlike refueling, charging takes time. This calculation must be done every day, which is tiring.

Radio DJ Zeng Zijie said that the Taycan is undoubtedly the car I am most looking forward to after 9/11. This car had a profound impact on me, to the point where it almost influenced my idea of ??buying another 911. From the first time I saw this car to the launch of this car, to the first friend around me who picked up the car. In these short few months, I have thought about this car from different perspectives and identities. I even did a crazy test a few days ago, using the Taycan Turbo S to drive 7 people on the racing track. This imaginative operation is definitely the most powerful proof of this car. Don't doubt how seven people can fit into this car, because they really can. As for the performance results in terms of power output and performance, I can tell you responsibly - it's just like there are no people on board. This proves that Taycan is a pure electric sports car with sports car genes and blood flowing through it. Don’t compare Taycan with pure electric vehicles currently used for home use or even used for online ride-hailing. Taycan is a sports car. Understand that the focus of a sports car is performance. So it is wrong to compare sports car standards with household standards. Just as you can opt out of the audio system in the 911GT3 RS, this operation is very unsettling. But because it's a sports car, these are widely accepted. The same goes for taycan! So I think Taycan, as a pure electric supercar, is really pure and life-like.

TG Team MrOdevil has something to say about the Taycan. Everything about the car is very good, but the price is not very friendly!

TG Team Gilbert Kwok It is said that as a German car company for more than half a century, his mission is to produce sports cars and racing cars. The Taycan, the first mass-produced electric sports car, is very worth looking forward to. The appearance does not need to be much Say, it’s still a Porsche, right? The interior is a Porsche with a bit of technology. Driving feeling: It still feels like a Porsche, but when you step on the accelerator vigorously, it feels unprecedented. The electric motor instantly accelerates the speed and stimulates the feeling that the gas engine cannot match. Final summary: Personally, as Porsche's strength "two-seater sports car", it is a bit disappointing that the first electric car is a four-door coupe. As a fast car, it should be a two-seater! Look forward to his second all-electric coupe.

In the current market, it is generally believed that electric vehicles will gradually dominate the market. I do not deny that this is the general trend. But in reality, is everyone suitable to drive an electric vehicle? This is a question worth thinking about, especially if you haven’t become a pure electric car owner yet, you really need to think about it carefully.

I’m not saying that pure electricity is bad, but it will change the concept and habits of travel. Some people can do it, and some people will be burdened. For example, charging, if you don't have a fixed parking space, will highlight the trouble caused by charging. Charging is different from refueling. It only takes ten minutes to refuel. Charging takes at least thirty minutes, which means that if someone is in front, it will take more time. If you charge in a large shopping mall, parking fees will be added, and electricity charges will vary depending on the location. There are also multiple choices for charging providers, but now they are all managed, recharged and operated by apps. It has become a mobile phone with multiple apps and separate recharges for each one. Also, they are divided into different car brands and whether they are available or not. The power supply can be supplied after signing the contract. All of the above are things that should be paid attention to when importing pure electric vehicles. However, domestic pure electric vehicles do not have the above problems because domestically produced pure electric vehicles are favored by policies. The only thing is that it takes time to queue up.

Tesla always has the upper hand when it comes to imported pure electricity. In terms of charging and popularization, it can be as convenient as domestically produced ones. However, the Volkswagen system or the German system lags far behind in this regard. Everyone must be mentally prepared. . Will pure electricity save money and protect the environment? If you focus on this topic and learn more about it, I think you will save a little bit, just not much.

Playing with pure electricity is actually the concept of mobile phone charging. Don’t just believe in the cruising range indicated by it, you must also charge it every day. If a family has one car, a pure electric car will be quite troublesome, because it takes a long time to charge, and it is acceptable for people who don’t travel much... but who live a regular life, but if they are socially active and colorful people, only one car If so, unless you plan a precise circumference and must execute it according to the plan, forget about pure electric cars, because you will be so angry that you vomit blood and have to wait for charging to complete. The above is just a personal opinion. My life is quite active and dynamic. I will go to another city for meetings at any time. It is difficult to predict the schedule, and the time is tight. If I drive a pure electric car, I will have to face the above scenarios, so I express my feelings.

Personally, I think it would be more reasonable for a pure electric car to be used as a second car for an individual or family. At least it is always safe when traveling abroad. If you try a pure electric car, Tesla is still the choice with the highest overall score. If you like individuality and the driving control of a gasoline sports car, then I believe that currently only the Porsche Taycan can satisfy you.

Special thanks to: Guangzhou Jebsen Porsche for lending their Taycan for the shoot. Thanks, Alyssa. Guangzhou Hualong Racing Park, the venue owner, kart driver and fellow Porsche owner YC gave his full assistance, thank you! And my crew, Mr Odevil, Gilbert Kwok, shot with me.
