What's the difference between a 35MM camera and a 135MM camera?
The film frame of 135 camera is 36x wide and 24mm high, and the total height of the upper and lower square perforations is 35mm.
This kind of film originated from the film at the end of 19, and was later used by Germans (about 1924) for Lycra cameras, and it was industrialized. This is the camera that originally used 35mm film. Later, it was recognized that the 35mm film was called 135 film, and the camera of 135 film was called 135 camera.
The specification of 2.35mm film is 24mm×36mm, which is the most widely used traditional camera film specification. Therefore, a tradition has been formed in the photography field, taking this as a reference, just like many times when marking the metric length unit "meter", it has to be converted into the English length unit "foot" and then marked.
As we know, focal length means the distance from the lens to the focal plane, that is, the distance from the lens to the film or sensor. The precise definition of focal length is "the distance from the focal point to the optical center of the lens". For digital cameras, the focal length is usually very small. This is because the specifications of image sensors commonly used in digital cameras are very small-the diagonal length is usually less than 25mm, so the lens is very close to the focal plane, resulting in a much smaller focal length than ordinary traditional 35mm cameras. Common 3-fold zoom optical lenses are usually around 6- 18mm or 7-21mm. In addition, the specifications of image sensors of different digital cameras are different, and the actual focal length marked on the lens is also 7-2 1mm, which is actually different when converted into 35mm camera lens focal length. However, the real reason for marking by converting the focal length of the 35mm camera is that most photographers can't understand why the focal length of the lens of the digital camera is so short and the complicated conversion relationship between them, and use this conversion relationship to convert the focal length of the 35mm camera.
3.35MM cameras are only used for film cameras. Now the mainstream is digital cameras. In the production of digital cameras, there is no 35MM camera. If it is only for film cameras, there is an upper limit to the enlargement of developed photos because the negative area of 135 camera is small. If you exceed this upper limit, the picture will be blurred. If there is a high requirement for the enlarged area of photos, you can't just use the 135 camera with a small negative area.
Answers to supplementary questions:
135 camera is our most common camera, and it is also the most sold camera on the market at present. It uses 135 film that we usually see. 120 camera adopts 120 film with a larger negative area and a width of about 6 cm. Different models of 120 cameras use different film lengths, which are 4.5, 6, 7, 9, 12 or even 17 cm, so 120.
