There are many cultural celebrities in Tongxiang, such as Mao Dun, Feng Zikai and Xu. They all posted couplets at home, many of which reflect family style.

Walking into the former residence of Mao Dun in Wuzhen, you can see such a couplet in the family school downstairs in Guanqian Street: be diligent in history and personnel, remember to respect the style of Confucius. The implication is that students are required to study the ancient classics and history diligently, remember and observe the hospitality ceremony, and be useful. The teacher of this family school is Mao Dun's grandfather Shen.

When Mao Dun was ten years old, his father Yongxi Shen died of illness. Mao Dun's mother, Chen Aizhu, wrote such an elegy for her husband: Young people recite the words of Confucius and Mencius, study acousto-optic electrification for a long time, worry about the country and the people, and are sick, why not die unsatisfied; Lovers are mentors and friends. Geese can fly very high and far, so you should look far and grow like geese. " Mao Dun kept in mind his mother's teachings and was determined to aim high from an early age. When he was studying in middle school, after reading Zhuangzi, he wrote an essay entitled "Aim at a Swan", and used a swan to tell his great ambition.

Feng Jiafeng, who is "upright and upright", can always be seen. The same is true of Feng Zikai's education for his children. Xu's ancestors, originally a scholarly family, gradually declined after Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty. Every Spring Festival, he writes many Spring Festival couplets for his neighbors. Among the Spring Festival couplets he wrote for his family, there are two pairs: poetry and calligraphy are always in the first spring, and the accumulation of goodness is not limited to celebration; Great men are quiet and good, while Zuze studies. The core content of these two couplets is four words: reading and accumulating goodness. This just reflects Xu Jialiang's good family style.

Xu's grandfather attaches great importance to the education of the younger generation. As early as when Xu was four or five years old, his grandfather taught him to write Chinese calligraphy hand in hand. The family was poor and had no money to buy paper, so grandpa found a square brick and asked him to practice writing on it. Later, he was sent to private schools and schools.
