How far is the mobile phone from the camera in today's photography field?

Mobile phones and cameras were originally two product lines, and now the contradiction between them has been infinitely magnified. On the one hand, the shooting performance of mobile phones is getting stronger and stronger, the overall price of cameras is getting cheaper and cheaper, and the target users of both sides begin to overlap;

On the other hand, many mobile phone manufacturers and media always compare cameras intentionally or unintentionally when promoting their products, and this official "war-inducing" approach has undoubtedly played a role in fueling the situation. Look at the latest mobile phones: 40-megapixel Huawei P30 Pro, 48-megapixel OPPO Reno, 64-megapixel Red Rice Note 8 Pro…… ................................................................................................................................... Just talking about pixels, the mobile phone seems to have won.

But the "number of pixels" only determines the resolution of the photo output, and the sensor area and the size of a single pixel are the key factors affecting the imaging quality. The sensor area of the above-mentioned mobile phones has not reached the level of 1 inch, but there is still a big gap compared with APS-C commonly used in SLR/micro-single. Please look at the picture itself. The sensor area is small. Forcibly increasing pixels will only further compress the size of a single pixel of the mobile phone and reduce the photosensitive area of each pixel.

This is very fatal to the detail clarity and dark noise control of photos. For example, the single pixel size of Red Rice Note 8 Pro is 0.8μm, while that of Sony A7R4 is 3.76μm, which is only unilateral. As a camera divided by area, the single pixel area of A7R4 is about 25 times larger than that of a mobile phone with the same pixel, and their imaging quality is completely different.
