What's the difference between HDR and UHD?
1, different definitions
HDR (High Dynamic Range) is translated as "High Dynamic Range Display Technology". This term was first mentioned in photography. It is a technology that can enhance the dynamic range of photos, that is, the contrast between the brightest white and the darkest black.
UHD refers to "Ultra HD", which is the next generation technology of high definition (HD) and full HD. According to the "Ultra HD UHD" standard proposal issued by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a display with a physical resolution of 3840×2 160(4K×2K) or above is called Ultra HD.
2. Different roles
The main function of HDR is to make pixels more accurate and rich, regardless of resolution, that is, HDR can make them display better than devices that do not support HDR, whether on display devices with 2K or 4K resolution.
The main function of UHD is to greatly increase the number of pixels, which is what we often say on PC to improve the display resolution. The resolution of 4K can reach 4096x2 160.
3. Times are different.
HDR was invented by Charles wycoff in 1960s.
UHD was held in Beijing on August 8, 20 12. Another new milestone of China TV industry, Skyworth launched UHD Super Gao Qingyun TV.
