Located in the southwest corner of Jiangyin City, it was built together with Xingguo Temple during the Taiping and Xingguo Period of the Northern Song Dynasty. It was originally the seventh level, but was burned by fire in Yuan Dynasty. It was restored in the 17th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1384) and raised to nine levels. During the war between Qi and Lu during the Republic of China, the top of the tower was shelled, and seven and a half floors remained. The six floors below were original ones from the Song Dynasty. Also known as Jiangyin Confucius Temple and Temple Studies. In Jiangyin Middle School on the north side of Renmin West Road, Chengjiang Town, Jiangyin. It was first built in the third year of Chunhua (992) in the Northern Song Dynasty. There is a Panchi in front of the Confucian Temple, with three stone bridges over the pond, which are relics of the Ming Dynasty. At the back is the Jimen Gate, with the Dacheng Hall inside, which is five rooms wide, with double eaves on the top of the mountain, thick beams and columns, and well-painted paintings. There are 22 inscriptions preserved in Minglun Hall. With a complete main axis layout, it is the best-preserved county-level Confucius temple in Jiangsu Province.
◆Xu Xiake’s former residence:
Xu Xiake (1587-1641) was an outstanding traveler and geographer in my country. His former residence was in Nanqi Village, Mazhen, Jiangyin. It was destroyed by war in the late Ming Dynasty and was rebuilt by Xu Junquan, Xu's nephew during the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. By 1984, only seven two-room tile-roofed houses with a wide area remained. In 1985, the government allocated funds for major repairs. It currently has three entrances, seventeen main rooms and two side rooms, covering an area of ??two acres. A plaque with the name "Xu Xiake's Former Residence" hangs on the front of the gate, and Pantuo stones stand on both sides. On the back of the door is engraved "Sheng Qi Zu Wu" on the forehead. In front of the first entrance is the patio courtyard, with wing rooms on both sides, and flower beds on the east and west. In front of the hall there is a brick carving of "Inheriting the past and enriching the future". The wing rooms and the hall are turned into exhibition rooms to display Xu Xiake's life stories and lava specimens. The second entrance is an ancient Podocarpus pine, which is said to have been planted by Xu Xiake. It is about 400 years old.
The second entrance hall is the "Chongli Hall", with a portrait of Xu Xia hanging in the middle, displaying calligraphy and painting works by contemporary calligraphers and painters in memory of Xu Xiake, as well as photos of Xu Xiake's scenery taken in recent years.
Shengshui Bridge is built on the Shentang River in front of Xu Xiake's former residence. It is said that it was the anchorage of Xu Xiake's boat when he was traveling. This bridge also has a history of about 400 years. Rebuilt in 1985, it maintains the style of the small bridges south of the Yangtze River in the Ming Dynasty.
