One: take a macro

It is very difficult to use autofocus in macro shooting. First of all, it is difficult for us to ensure that the focus in the camera is exactly where we need to focus. If you use the method of focusing first and then composing, you will definitely lose focus. Secondly, if you don't use a tripod to shoot macro, because the fuselage moves back and forth, even if you finish focusing, you will lose focus again. Thirdly, some focusing surfaces are uneven, and using camera autofocus will lead to the wrong selection of focusing surfaces.
In the above photo, I didn't use a tripod, but only used manual focusing. Because when shooting macro photography, manual focusing can just overcome the three shortcomings of automatic focusing.
Manual focusing will ignore the focus point in the camera. Manual focusing is basically an eye test. No matter where you focus on the picture, as long as you see this clearly, you won't lose focus. Of course, this vision needs practice.
Two: Shooting high-speed moving objects.

Do we often get angry with our manual camera when shooting high-speed moving objects? Taking pictures of birds, for example, not only flies fast, but also has no regularity, and often disappears without focusing.
Some photographers will think that if I change to a top camera, such as Canon 1D series or Nikon D3, I can capture it. In fact, the author can tell you responsibly that maybe the top camera was changed, and you didn't even have time to adjust the focal length, so you flew over.
The only thing that can really catch birds is manual focusing. When using telephoto lens, the bird may stay in the viewfinder for only a few tenths of a second, so it is difficult to ensure a fixed position. This speed is impossible for autofocus to focus at present.
I used manual focusing when taking the above photos, which really requires a certain shooting level. Because it is often necessary to compose, focus and shoot in a very short time, manual focusing must be fast and accurate. The author almost pressed the shutter while turning the focus ring during shooting. Practice to a certain extent, the concentration rate is still very high, which can reach more than 50%. It's much better than autofocus without taking pictures.

2, even if there is no tripod, it will not affect the focus. Take the photo above as an example. Instead of using a tripod, I adjusted the lens to the nearest focal length, and then moved my body back and forth until the butterfly's eyes could see clearly and quickly pressed the shutter.
3. Even if there is a lot of interference around the focal plane, it will not affect our manual focusing. After all, the only standard of manual focusing is what our eyes see. However, using manual focusing still requires some skills, but it can be done through more practice.

Three: hyperfocal distance Photography

Hyperfocal distance is the closest focusing distance that a lens can reach when focusing an object at infinity with acceptable definition. That is, the focus distance with the largest depth of field. When the lens is focused at this distance, the sharpness of all objects from hyperfocal distance 1/2 to infinity is within the acceptable range.
On the other hand, hyperfocal distance means that when a lens is focused at infinity, all objects can have acceptable clarity at the infinity of the focus scale on the lens after a certain distance. This distance is the distance of hyperfocal distance.
Either way, we can easily find that hyperfocal distance photography can bring us a great benefit: we can get a clear picture from far and near without focusing on a certain place. In this way, you can better show the scenery near and far when shooting the scenery. In addition, it can avoid the out-of-focus caused by auto-focus or manual focus in news photography, and capture the picture at the fastest speed.
On the other hand, from the definition of hyperfocal distance photography, we still need manual focusing to complete photography. For the above two methods, one is to manually focus to hyperfocal distance distance, and the other is to manually focus to infinity.
Taking the above-mentioned photos taken by the author as an example, the author adjusted the focal length of the lens to 24mm and the aperture to F 1 1, and then adjusted the lens to manual focusing mode, focusing to infinity. The next thing to do is composition and shooting.
