Why was Zhangjiakou also chosen to host the Winter Olympics?

On the evening of February 25th, at the closing ceremony of PyeongChang Winter Olympics, with the end of eight minutes in Beijing, the Winter Olympics officially entered Beijing time. Four years later, Beijing will become the first city in Olympic history to host both the Summer Olympics and the Winter Olympics.

It is worth mentioning that compared with the 2008 Summer Olympics, the host city of the 2022 Winter Olympics is not only Beijing, but also Zhangjiakou in Hebei Province.

It is reported that Beijing will undertake all ice projects, while Yanqing and Zhangjiakou will undertake all snow projects.

Why does the Winter Olympics favor this place?

The unique advantages of Zhangjiakou

The origin of the name Zhangjiakou is quite interesting. In the eighth year of Jiajing (A.D. 1529), Zhang zhen, a garrison, opened a small gate on the north wall, which was called "Little North Gate". Because the city gate is as small as a mouth, it was built in Zhang zhen, so it is also called "Zhangjiakou".

At first, Zhangjiakou was separated from Beijing by only one door. Even now, the southeast of Zhangjiakou is adjacent to Beijing, and the urban area is only 180 km away from Beijing. Beijingers often call it "outside the mouth".

Li Mingde, an academic consultant of Tourism Research Center of China Academy of Social Sciences, told China News Service that he was a through train reporter, and Zhangjiakou co-hosted the Winter Olympics with Beijing because of its special climatic and geographical conditions.

"Zhangjiakou is colder than Beijing, so the snow period is longer. In addition, in recent years, Zhangjiakou has also made great efforts to develop ice and snow sports, especially the ice and snow sports of worshipping ceremony. Both the facilities and the quality of ice and snow have reached international standards. " Li Mingde said.

Speaking of ice and snow conditions, we have to mention the sacrificial ceremony here. It is understood that Chongli District of Zhangjiakou City will be the main venue of the Winter Olympics snow project.

This is because the natural skiing period of Chongli can reach 120 days, and the snow period can reach 140 days. In addition, the slope of Chongli is steep and gentle, with an area of 300 square kilometers for tourist skiing and competitive skiing, and it is known as the most ideal skiing area in North China.

If natural climatic conditions make Zhangjiakou, the convenience of transportation is the icing on the cake.

Li Mingde told reporters that the country is a through train: "Zhangjiakou has brought a big market to Beijing by virtue of the advantages of China's capital and the world's megacities, making up for this deficiency, and Beijing's advantage has become Zhangjiakou's advantage."

Sports drive tourism.

With the successful bid for the Winter Olympics, Chongli's ski tourism industry has also developed rapidly.

So far, Chongli has held several international ski festivals, and was named "Top Ten Most Influential Ice and Snow Tourism Festivals in China" in the 20 16- 1065438 ice and snow season. In 20 17, Chongli Ski Resort was also rated as "Top Ten Winter Tourism Destinations in China".

The development of worship ceremony tourism is inseparable from the upsurge of "ice and snow tourism".

The report on the development of ice and snow tourism in China (20 17) (hereinafter referred to as the report) shows that in the ice and snow season of 20 16-20 17, the ice and snow tourism market in China reached1700,000 person-times, and the income of ice and snow tourism was about 270 billion yuan.

Among them, ice and snow tourists account for 72.4% of the total number of ice and snow tourists in China, and skiing and leisure tourists account for 27.6%. The magnificent scenery in the snowy north and Wan Li and the rich local folk customs have become the important attractions of ice and snow tourism.

Regionally, Heilongjiang Province, Jilin Province and Beijing-Hebei Province have formed a three-legged trend of ice and snow tourism. Among them, Heilongjiang Province and Jilin Province have become the main representatives of ice and snow tourism in Northeast China, and Beijing-Hebei is the core of Olympic ice and snow tourism, with Yanqing, Miyun and Zhangjiakou in Hebei as typical examples.

In addition, the emerging ice and snow tourism growth belt with Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia as the main body is also rising.

Take Altai Mountain in Xinjiang as an example. It is the birthplace of ancient fur skiing, with an altitude of 2,000-3,500 meters, which is internationally recognized as the best skiing range and will not be bothered by altitude sickness. So Altai Mountain is a "powder snow paradise" for skiers. You can follow the wind at will from the top of the mountain, and the surrounding area is covered with snow.

Of course, in addition to the north, ice and snow tourism in some cities in the south has also become the highlight of local winter tourism. Qiaobo Ice and Snow World in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, Shennongjia Ski Resort in Hubei, Xiling Snow Mountain Ski Resort in Sichuan and Yushe Snow Mountain Ski Resort in Liupanshui, Guizhou are all very popular with local tourists.

According to the report, during the ice and snow season from 20265438 to 2022, it is estimated that the number of ice and snow tourists in China will reach 340 million, the income will reach 670 billion yuan, and the output value of tourism and related industries will reach 2.88 trillion yuan.

Pursuing "Game Quality"

In Li Mingde's view, there are two forms of ice and snow sports: one is pure sports, mainly competitive; One is fitness tourism, mainly for fun. Obviously, ice and snow tourism belongs to the latter.

"Playing with ice and snow, facilities can be relatively simple, without internationalization and standardization. However, the pattern should be renovated and your own ideas should be added, such as the construction of houses, the design of slides and cable cars, the use of equipment and so on. In order to maintain its diversity as much as possible. " Li Mingde told China that he was a through train reporter.

At present, Harbin is one of the more distinctive ice and snow tourist attractions in China.

During the International Ice and Snow Festival, Harbin not only displayed large-scale ice sculptures, snow sculpture Garden and Ice Lantern Garden at home and abroad, but also held ice hockey competitions, ice sculpture competitions, ice and snow festival poems, ice and snow photography exhibitions and other activities to increase the tourism experience through sports and enhance the sports interest through tourism.

Gongchangling Hot Spring Ski Resort in Liaoning Province provides visitors with the opportunity to feel warm and cold at the same time. It is understood that Gongchangling Hot Spring Ski Resort is located on the east side of Tanghe Hot Spring, surrounded by alpine pine forests, where visitors can experience skiing and enjoy hot springs.

The Shuangfeng Forest Farm in Mudanjiang City, known as the "Snow Town of China", forms a fairy tale world of ice sculpture and jade carving under negative pressure every winter.

With the increasing number of ice and snow tourists, Li Mingde pointed out that "the management department should have a certain plan to make the total amount and layout tend to be reasonable". At the same time, in the operation process of interest-oriented ice and snow sports, tourists should be allowed to "play culture, play health and have fun", thus moving towards "quality" ice and snow tourism.
