Great film reviews

The birth of the road film "The Great Wei" proves that Wang Zhi, a Shanghai-based commercial film director, is technically proficient. His first film has played a lot of technical cards. However, there is still room for improvement in scriptwriting. Some film festivals may regard him as a film that tries to present a journey of self-discovery. However, others are more looking forward to the completion of Wang Zhi's second film "Dalian: Sunny Today", which has more points to explore in terms of content.

Weiyi, a rebellious 16-year-old boy from Tianjin, stumbled upon a photo of his mother being intimate with another man when she was pregnant with him. So he jumped on the train and set off for Shaanxi to find the man he thought was his biological father. What he didn't find was that his half-sister Xiaomi secretly followed him all the way.

On their journey, they passed by Hebei and met a series of eccentric people: a tattooed circus performer, a pair of drug dealers, and a female photographer who never laughed.

Wei's commentary tries to explain various experiences in this growing process. However, the lens is more like trying to capture the psychology of a generation of teenagers than a moment when individuals discover and find themselves.

However, Dong Yue's excellent photography also adds some highlights to the film. Under beautiful photography, the sunny land in Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province is somewhat unreal. Compared with the whole film, this paragraph is more like a dream. In the animated paragraphs, no matter the comic presentation at the beginning or the more detailed description in the later paragraphs, they all show a great state of mind. These animated paragraphs emphasize that all these events seem to be just imagination in Wei's mind. In addition, the director did not give the film richer connotation.
